The McKinley Museum and Presidential Library.
by kdoc13
The actual McKinley Presidential Library is located in Warren, Ohio. It is about an hour away. But, Canton was the President's home and the museum holds some of his things.
The museum for the most part is a childrens museum with exhibits on animals, dinosaurs, electricity and many other things. But, there is a research center for President McKinley which is located there as well. Mostly the museum is the exhibits which are geared towards younger visitors. I know, I spent a lot of time there as a kid. The planetarium show is a good way to waste away an hour staring at the stars, and the gift shop has the ever present Kdoc favorite, Astronaught Ice Cream!
Where Footballl Comes Alive!

"The Pro Football Hall of Fame"
Since we're originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania you would think we would have made our way to Canton, Ohio before our move to Texas, but you'd be wrong! Although it is only a two hour drive we never took the opportunity to see The Pro Football Hall of Fame while we lived in the Steel City.
We flew recently to Pennsylvania for a special event in our family and had a free afternoon to ourselves, so drove to Canton to see football's museum of fame. There was time for little else, so we did not venture into the town to see any other sights.
The museum's collection of sports paraphenalia began with the earliest teams in the league and progressed to current stars and organizations. The Pittsburgh Steelers is our favorite team (no surprise) so we made sure we saw all that pertained to them.
Where I Usually Dine

"What's on the Menu"
Perhaps the best places to dine are not really inside the City of Canton proper, but a place called Belden Village; a hop skip and a jump from the greater downtown Canton area. Just off Interstate 77, Belden Village is a host to dozens of sit down restaurants and fast food places. But the best place I like to dine is The Olive Garden. Nothing on the menu is bad - but I recommend the the soup and salad; cheap, great tasting and very filling. Refills ad infinitum on the soups ( pasta fagiole is my favorite ) and the fresh garlic breadsticks are fantastic. Top it off with a nice dry red wine and that, for me. is a meal.
