Riverboat cruises/ General store

by Luvthebeach

Has anyone been on the riverboat cruises and could tell me what they are like? We are considering a dinner cruise on B&B Riverboats. Also I will be in Cincinnati for the weekend with my husband - can anyone recommend a good restaurant? We have also heard about a place called Rabbit Has General Store. He is into antiques and collectibles and I thought he would like to see this. Any info on this would be great as well. Thanks!

We went on one of the dinner cruises out of Cincy - actually across they dock across the river in Kentucky. The one we took was a murder mystery dinner cruise - food was good, the entertainment was fun. There are many good restaurants along the waterfront near the riverboats and acquarium.

I went on a B&Briverboat dinner cruise from the Kentucky side of the river about 5 years ago. I had a lovely time. There was time to walk around the boat and see the sight. The Cincy skyline lit up at night is a wonderful view... great photo opportunity. The cruise I was one featured dinner, a live band, and dancing. I would certainly do it again. Hope you have a great time with your husband.

Thanks so much for the replies. I am really looking forward to it now. This is his birthday and just 4 days before our anniversary so I'm hoping for a special trip. Thanks again!

Travel Tips for Cincinnati

A big city in a not so big package...

by Angeles33

Lots to see in Cincinnati! Put on your walking shoes and take the family around the town. Lots of shopping in the area and great walking course down by the Ohio River. They even have a huge play area for the children at Sawyer Point! : ) I always miss the people of Cincinnati when I'm away. The people seem to have that small town, warm hearted, interaction with you. Even though it's a major city. Certainly a great quality to have and one that's really hard to find these days!

Dress up and enjoy an evening or afternoon with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra or the Pops. Both put on fantastic musical performances.

ever changing weather

by stoney13

the weather here changes here all the time. Basically if its winter, it will be cold and wet. Pack to stay warm, with extra shoes in case there is snow. Fall and spring is pretty much "light jacket" weather. Summers range, but stay pretty hot. Just remember, if you don't like the weather, just stay an extra day!

Woodland Mound

by Stephen-KarenConn

In the extreme southeastern corner of Hamilton County is Woodland Mound, a 1,030-acre park operated by the Hamilton County Parks District. There is an ancient Indian burial ground here, but it is unlikely that you will see it. The mound is "protected " by being unmarked and hidden.

However, there is much else to see and do at Woodland Mound. In the center of the park is the Seasongood Nature Center with wildlife exhibits, two outdoor observation decks, a classroom, an auditorium and Nature's Niche Store. In the park you will also find the18-hole Vineyard Golf Course, Sweetwine Banquet Center, trails, picnic areas, playgrounds, a seasonal waterpark and and more. A campground and boat launch ramp on are located on the the southern edge of Woodland Mound along the Ohio River.

There are several great parks in Hamilton County. Woodland Mound was opened in 1980 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the county parks department. Because of it's out-of-the-way location Woodland Mound is usually less crowded than some of the other parks.

Directions:
Woodland Mound may be reached by Taking U.S. Hwy. 52 east of Cincinnati. The main entrance is on Old Kellogg Road, just past Eight Mile Road.

Crossing the OHIO...

Ohio river.
Crossing the OHIO river coming from Cincinatti, you end up in Kentucki. To me it felt like going back in time (resembles the style as in the 'back to the future' movies).
I must admit not feeling very safe in that area, but it could have been me.
