Historic Hotel in Clifton

"K-Mart, we should go to K-Mart. 400 Oak Street."

"Raymond: I'm an excellent driver.
Charlie: When did you drive?
Raymond: I drove slow on the driveway when my dad came to Walbrook.
Charlie: Was Dad in the car?
Raymond: Yeah."

Remember these quotes from the exemplary movie, Rain Man, starring Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise? Well, the Vernon Manor Hotel at 400 Oak Street was the setting for Raymond's (Dustin Hoffman) home, Wellbrook, in that movie!

I haven't stayed here but friends & I have dined here for brunch twice and had a going away party in one of the bars. When we heard about the ghost stories we decided we'd have a slumber/ghost party here!!

Unique Quality: Great views overlooking downtown. You can see Carew Tower, Cincinnati's tallest building from the top floor terrace.

Great brunch (and expensive at nearly $20, but well worth it).

Has a suite named after The Beatles with the decor unchanged from when they stayed at this hotel in 1966.

Besides The Beatles, numerous famous people have stayed in this lovely historic hotel:
"Presidents Johnson, Kennedy, Bush, and dignitaries such as former First Lady Nancy Reagan, and former Prime Minister Shimon Peres have stayed at the Vernon Manor. Famous athletes including Tiger Woods, Pete Rose, Brooks Robinson, Tom Seaver, Davey Johnson, Jack McKeon, The Indiana Pacers, and The Cincinnati Bengals have all chosen “400 Oak Street” at their address in Cincinnati. The Vernon Manor Hotel has also been a long time favorite of various actors and celebrities including: Anthony Quinn, Yul Brynner, Ted Turner, Jane Fonda, Judy Garland, Dean Jones, Kevin Bacon, Cloris Leachman, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Keanu Reeves, Rene Zellweger, Matthew Broderick, and Sarah Jessica Parker."
(from the website)(ed. note: Sarah Jessica Parker hails from this area)

It's architectural elements mimic The Hatfield House of Hertfordshire, England.

It's designated as one of the Historic Hotels of America by the National Trust for Historical Preservation.

Also, it's reputed to be haunted and was supposedly one of the inspirations for John Cusack's recent film, 1408.

Old English style manor

Beautiful old hotel built in 1924, with all the amenities of a full scale hotel.
Our stay was not of leisure or business, but for medical reasons, so our stay at the hotel was very comfortable and convenient for our circumstances.

Unique Quality: The hotel is located within blocks of the hospital district in Cincinnati. It also within minutes to the downtown area for business travelers and complimentary shuttle service is available. This was extremely valuable for us with our daily visits back and forth to the hospital.
