Always Be Prepared for Winter
by TravelinMissy
Because the weather in Cleveland & especially suburbs east of Cleveland can go from rain to snow in a matter of minutes always have winter gear on you if you plan on traveling anytime October or later.
East Cleveland including the suburbs & outlying towns of Chesterland, Mentor, Mentor-on-the-Lake, Eastlake & Chardon get a ton of snow!
Always be prepared with a snow shovel, windshield de-icer & ice/snow scrapers because you're gonna need it.
"Lake effect" storms, as they are called, occur when icy cold air blows eastward, picking up warmer water in the Great Lakes and dropping it as snow. OHIO/NORTHWEST PENNSYLVANIA SNOWFALL (INCHES): AVERAGE

Cleveland City Hall (1916)
by yooperprof
As part of Daniel Burnham's master plan for Cleveland, it was decided to build a new City Hall in a grand location overlooking Lake Erie. Architect J. Milton Dyer conceived an impressive Beaux Arts temple with detailing reminiscent of Grand Central Station in New York City. Be sure to check out the central lobby!
Jazz and all that jazz
by chauncenetta
Jazz is serious here. There's a place: The Bop Stop. Feature local artists and prominent guests. It's a bar. They won't allow you to talk there. If you talk while jazz is in motion you get shushed. It's a humiliating experience.
Extreme skill & talent there though. Jazz artists are a different breed is all I can say.
Also, 90.3 WCPN .... Cleveland Public Radio ... featues a great music department, entertaining and informative.
Gravity Games
by CoAir13
For the third year in a row, Cleveland will host the Gravity Games. In September, more than 200 of the world's best professional action sports athletes compete in Bike, freestyle motorcross, skateboarding, wakeboarding, and inline. There is an interactive festival village featuring demo's, sports equipment and fashion, concerts by today's top bands (last year, Jane's Addiction played!!), and athlete autograph sessions. The stands for these events fill up very quickly. They are open during practice, though. The venue is right on the lakefront behind the Rock-n-Roll hall of Fame and Great Lakes Science Center . Climb the rock wall, take a spin in the orbitron, and take a crack at the BMX dirt track.....bring your rollerblades and tryout the mini-ramps. You are allowed to bring your own bottled water. Must be store bought and sealed. Bring a towel or blanket to relax on the grass and plenty of sunblock if you are spending the day. Tickets last year and the year before were $12....which includes that days concerts.
Geauga County
by el_ruso
This county is located just east of Cleveland. It is still thinly populated and retains its rural feel.
The main attractions are the Sea World/ Six Flags, Chagrin Falls - a quaint little town with rather small but scenic falls. The landscape is very beautiful and hilly - take a drive along Mayfield road east and enjoy the scenery!
