OSU football
by AnitaCarrie
Let's face it, we all love buckeye football (don't smirk, I know you have an inner nut), but the prices for a football game are ridiculous! (not to mention kind of difficult to get a hold of), but I have a solution if you can't make it to a real game.
The atmosphere is fun, feeling almost like a real game.
It's called the OSU Spring game, and it is a scrimmage, but all the same still pretty fun. And with ticket prices at 4$ a person you can take the whole family! If the kids get antsy you don't have to feel guilty about leaving, and it can be a seriously fun family event. Sunscreen/hat
poncho (weather dependent)
possibly a butt pillow, the seats can be hard
cash for drinks (although you can get a free cup of water if you ask specifically for it)
You can smell the BBQ
by spartan about Hoggy's Bar & Grille
Hoggy's is a local chain of barbecue joints where you can smell BBQ a mile away. Everything is smoked (including the prime rib and baked potatoes), the ribs and pulled pork sandwiches are awesome, and the sides are all homemade, fresh and delicious. If you are looking for large portions of food (ribs, chicken, pork, sandwiches and desserts), then this is the place to go.
kangaZoo!- Australian Wing
by abi_maha
We spent a day at the zoo last weekend and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. So I am going to write in detail about each of the wings the Columbus Zoo has.
We started with the Australian wing as I was curious to see the hopper- KangaroO! And it didn't disappoint! These beautiful animals were kept in an open arena so we could see them face to face, hopping around in their natural way! :) Then we saw the sleepy, oh so cuddly koala that was almost sleeping and dropping off the tree :)) the australian parakeet section was an awesome experience as our fotos will show! Parakeets so colorful they could put a rainbow to shame! They were totally having a field day bathing themselves and feeding off vistors and kids. It's fun how thezoo has put in such an effort to make it interactive for the kids!
COSI
by lashr1999
For some reason there was an over 30-minute wait to get into the museum. The inside of the museum has some pretty good hands on exhibits. The Aquarius exhibit was one of my favorites. People can press various buttons and make water jump from one item to the next. Also, you can move various hoses to make water go into various pot. There is a section where you can float some balls in midair on a stream of water. Kids can attach various pipes and then let water flow through them. In other sections you can ride a bike on a tight wire or even make a hot air balloon fly.. In August when I went, Cosi housed the Titanic exhibit. There were actual artifacts from the titanic and recreations of how various rooms would look onboard the Titanic. The Cosi is a worthwhile for everyone to see.
COSI is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. COSI is open Wednesday - Saturday 10am - 5pm and Sunday, Noon-6pm
Admission is $12 for Adults (13- 59) $10 for Seniors (60+) $7 for Youth (2-12) Free for Children 23 months and under
Visiting Friends in Columbus
by cjg1
Our friends Barb & Bob live in Ohio. Bob has been battling cancer and spends most of his time in and out of the James Cancer Center in Columbus. We often come to visit Bob to brighten his day and give Barb some much needed support. Unfortunately besides the hotel, some shops, the hospital and few restaurants we haven't seen much else of Columbus.
Liz first met Bob & Barbara on a trip several years back and instantly became good friends. Over the years they have become family to Liz and now I consider them family as well. They are sweet and caring people that instantly made me feel accepted from the first time we met.
Buckeyes are the "Candy of Ohio". Buckeyes were first made in 1922 as a tribute to the famous Buckeye trees of Ohio. The chocolates have a creamy peanut buter flavor center and simply melt in your mouth. We were first introduced to these delicious treats by our friends from Ohio and enjoy picking up some whenever we visit Ohio.
