visit the zoo and wyandot lake. they are located next to eachother, so you could go to both places in one day. the zoo costs $7 for adults i believe..not sure about wyandot lake anymore, i haven't been there for years. wyandot lake is a little water & theme park. i loved it in my younger years, i'd probably go on occasion now, but i won't be caught dead (or alive) in a bathing suit ;p well, columbus has been my home for 20+ years..but to be honest i don't really miss anything about it in particular.
Appealing Coffee Shop Near Downtown
by yooperprof about Coffee Table
A short stroll north of downtown Columbus on High Street is the artsy crafty neighborhood "The Short North." It's worthwhile to walk here and escape the somewhat bland banality of the arena district. There are boutiques and galleries and cozy bars in this area - and the Coffee Table baristas make excellent cappacino drinks.
A modern yet upscale diner
by spartan about Cap City Fine Diner & Bar
Looking for a nice place to eat on a visit to Columbus, my friends decided on this place, and it was a dining experience!!! This is not your typical mom and pop diner...it's a first class experience without all the glitter. For an appetizer, we tried the Homemade Potato Chips covered in melted bleu cheese, alfredo sauce and green onions. For dinner, I decided to get The Chef's Special (flank steak, with buttermilk and chive mashed potatoes, fresh green beans and sweet cherry tomatoes), but you may also want to try the Romano Crusted Chicken (with roasted tomato cream sauce and angel hair pasta) or the Slow Roasted Pork Chop (with apple-raisin chutney, buttermilk-chive mashed potatoes and skillet beans).

Columbus Zoo! Very, very nice! If here in December, go in the evening for the Winter Wonderlights.
Lots of natural habitat type settings for animals. Spacious zoo - hard to see everything in a day.
Gibbon Island Area at Columbus Zoo
by butterflykizzez04
Physical Characteristics: White-cheeked gibbons weigh 12-20 lbs. and are between 18 and 25 inches either tall. When born their coat color is buff or golden and at six months old it turns dark brown to black. In China, the males are all black; in Vietname they are black with beige cheeks; and in Laos they are black with white cheeks. Females turn back to a golden or buff color when sexually mature and sometimes develop black patches. Like all gibbons their feet and palms have bare, leathery skin for gripping. Their big toes are able to grasp in opposition to their other toes so that they can walk upright along branches.
Diet: Pulpy, ripe fruit, young leaves, buds, insects, and occasionally invertebrates
