The Ocean Club
by SeannyMac about The Ocean Club
The Ocean Club is a small, cozy restaurant at the Easton Town Centre. Designed with a South Beach/Art Deco theme, the Club has great seafood and entertainment, but it also boasts wonderful views of Easton. If you can get a window seat, you can hang-out at the Ocean Club for quite some time, nibbling at appetizers and sipping drinks while watching the shopping masses congregate below. Casual, although a pair of khakis and nice shirt would suffice for a weekend night.
Northstar Café
by lashr1999 about Northstar Café
The interior of the restaurant is made of brick, wood and many windows staring out onto High Street. There is food counter service where you order at the counter and take your card and place it on the table. A server brings the food to your table when it is ready. In addition, there is an area where you can read magazines on sofa and armchair. I ate the mushroom frittata which contained Shiitakes, portabellas, onions and gruyere cheese. It came with side of roasted potatoes and a biscuit. To drink I tried the Strawberry smoothie. I enjoyed my dish mainly because I love cheese and the mushrooms. Everyone seemed to love their dishes. The diner is supplied by local farmers so their product is fresh. The mushroom frittata with it's cheese and mushrooms:)
German Village
by Stephen-KarenConn
Far more than just a tourist attraction, German Village is a thriving contemporay community on the south side of Columbus. First established by German speaking settlers in 1880, the neighborhood spans 233 acres wtih 1,600 restored buildings, most being homes occupied by their owners. It is one of the premier historic restorations in the world, and boasts the most active community association in Ohio.
Still there much here for the visitor to see here. A center for tourist activity is the Schmidt's Corner. Here we found the quaint historic Red Stable (pictured) a restored 1886 livery stable, Schmidt's Restaurant and Sausage Haus (see restaurant tip), and Schmidt's Fudge Haus where we watched homemade fudge being made. Of course we couldn't resist sampling it. We also enjoyed just walking several blocks around this unique old neighborhood, observing the architecture and peeking into the myrid of small neatly kept gardens just bursting with summer flowers.
Ohio State House North Wing

At one point, we got lost in the museum and ended going up glass elevator somewhere in the north wing of the Atrium State House complex to a place where we could also peer through a glass ceiling to the dome.
Greater Columbus

"My pics in Columbus"
Columbus and surrounding areas are growing at a rapid pace. The plus side to this is that greater demand has meant fantastic shopping from upscale venues at Easton Towne Center and Polaris. It also has meant even more good places to dine. It also means that one has to deal with more traffic. My favorite things to do here since we moved here to the Polaris Parkway area two years ago are:
--The Short North has a great Gallery hop, which is held the first Saturday of each month. This is a fun area in general and there is an interesting tea place I like called ZenCha.
--Polaris and Easton are great for shopping. The Polaris area is well laid out and is a nice upscale area. Additionally, shopping ranges from Saks Fifth to Target so there is something for everyone's wallet. There is also a wonderful art store called Prizm down the road from Polaris (the whole plaza that Prizm is in is good, this is right where Polaris Parkway changes to East Powell Road). Easton is another newer area to shop and it is particularly nice to enjoy this area when the weather is nicer. There is also a good comedy club there.
--Some of the better restaurants include Anna's (greek food near Sawmill), Gordon Biersch (eccletic dishes with an Asian flair & microbrewery located downtown), First Watch (breakfast/lunch only in Hilliard), Elevator (American dishes located downtown), Schmidt's (German food in of course, German Village), California Pizza Kitchen (Polaris, fun pizzas and great hummus) and Molly Woo's (Polaris, by Saks Fifth, Chinese Cusine).
--The Book Loft in German Village is wonderful and I enjoy this whole part of Columbus in general.
