NPeterJack's Elyria Page
Elyria began as a Mill Town by founder Heman Ely of Connecticut, an early supporter of Napoleon Bonapart. It is a city of many diversified industries and is the seat of Lorain County, located 30 miles West of Cleveland and 9 miles South of Lake Erie. Winters can be fierce. It is serviced by the Cleveland regional metro parks, an extensive and beautifully maintained park system. It is also part of the regional Cleveland library system. Oberlin College is 9 miles from Elyria, as is the international port city of Lorain. Cascade Park is a jewel yet to be adequately developed. Steel, automotive, industries.
