Hilllsboro, the seat of Highland County, Ohio, is named for the nearby Fort Hill. A common misconception is that Hillsboro was named for the topography which is hilly and divides the watersheds of the Little Miami and Scioto Rivers.
Hillsboro had a population of 6,362 in the year 2000, while a total of more than 40,000 live in Highland County. It is a beautiful area of rolling farms, about a one hour drive east of Cincinnati.
