A GRAND RIVERBOAT ERA HOTEL

Located at the confluence of the Ohio and Muskingum Rivers, THE LAFAYETTE is the focal point of the downtown Marietta district. The Hotel is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Hotel offers 77 unique Victorian style Rooms
Gunroom Restaurant
Riverview Lounge

Though we did not stay here, I could not resist going inside to see for myself, the grandeur of this Hotel. It was amazing, esp the Lounge. There were lots of Antiques and old photographs of bygone days at the Lafayette.

One of the Last Great Riverboat Era Hotels

Opened on July 1, 1918, the Lafayette is on the national registry of "Historic Hotels of America." It is named in honor of the Marquis de Lafayette, who visited the city in 1825 at a site near the hotel. He has since been considered Marietta's first tourist. The imposing triangular shaped hotel has 77 guest rooms, several meeting rooms, a fitness center, the famous Gun Room restaurant, and Riverview Lounge which features live entertainment. The place was alive and bustling on the weekend of our stay.

Unique Quality: From our Victorian style guest room, we could see the heavily laden barges and other smaller boats plying up and down the Ohio River. It was December and there was a large display of gingerbread houses in the lobby which was fun to inspect. This was the perfect location from which to walk around the historic old river town of Marietta, with all the shops decorated for Christmas, and carolers out in the snow.
