~Milan~
"~Home of the Birthplace of Thomas Edison~"
Founded in 1816 when Ebenezzer Merry settled here and built Merry's flour and sawmill. When a canal was built in 1839 it made it easier for goods to reach Milan. It even exported wheat to Russia. As the times change after the railroad and roads were improved, the canal was not longer needed and it was later damaged after a flood.
Milan has so many wonderful historical village store fronts that frame the square and some of the finest victorian and colonial homes. It also home of the birthplace of Thomas Edison!
