Deer Creek is definitely a cut above your typical state park lodge, which is either a plus or a minus, depending on your personal taste. I must admit that I enjoy staying in state park lodges which have a more rustic appeal, such as those stone and log structures which are smaller versions of the grand old lodges in America's National Park system. But for those who would rather be in a slick, modern conference center setting, you will enjoy this lodge. Truthfully, I enjoy both.
The lodge at Deer Creek has 110 guest rooms. Our room overlooked the swimming pool; other rooms have panoramic views of the lake. Nice two-room suites are also available. Lodge amenities include indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, whirlpool and exercise room, restaurant, gift shop, lounge and several meeting rooms of various sizes. There is also a golf course, tennis courts, a softball field and trailheads near the lodge.
