LOVED BREAKERS EXPRESS!
by A TripAdvisor Member
I agree that there are alot of reviews under Breakers Express that are under the wrong hotel. They have to be talking about Hotel Breakers or some other resort. The pictures posted with those reviews are from a different hotel.
We had a large group of students that stayed at BREAKERS EXPRESS. We were all very happy with our rooms, and service at the hotel. The staff was WONDERFUL. Our rooms were cleaned each day, and our personal items were never touched. At night, a security officier walked the halls to make sure everything was okay.
The pool was nice, clean and opened late enough for us to enjoy a day in the park and come back to a cool splash in the pool.
The hotel was much better than what any of us expected! I recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a clean, nice place to stay when visiting Cedar Point. Its only a short drive to the park, you get early entrance to the park and its just a great place to stay.
With a group of 30+ people in agreement, this hotel was EXCELLENT!
Some Reviewers have the WRONG hotel

I’ve lived in Sandusky for 25 years and while checking out the reviews of hotel on this site for friends who wanted to stay close to Cedar Point I realized something…several of the reviewers weren’t talking about Breakers Express. There are only 2 hotels that you can walk to the part from; Hotel Breakers and Sandcastle Suites. Breakers Express is the closest hotel OFF Cedar Point to the park but IT’S NOT WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE and there are no restaurants within the hotel. The reviewers who talked about hallways with no heat or AC were staying in the old section of Hotel Breakers, which is a historical section of that hotel. I went to Cedar Point’s web site and they have page after page of info on their hotels (as well as the Park itself). If I was coming from out of town to go to the park and I had the money I would absolutely stay with one of their properties, the benefits outweigh the cost.
Cedar Point Resort Hotel

We went to cedar point on oct 2, 2004 for the end of our honeymoon. We did not make any reservations for a hotel there because we were playing by ear. So we decided to stop at the Breakers Express. We walked up to the counter were a young woman (maybe 20 yrs old) was standing. I told her we needed a room for 2 nights. She first stared at me like I was a *** and then asked if I had a reservation. When I told her no we didn't she rolled he eyes at me and then huffed about having to type in our information. I had asked her what types of rooms they had there and she looked at my like I was stupid. How am I to know that they only have one style of room, I have never stayed there before.
So we finally get our room and go up. The room is very nice and it was extemely clean. The first thing we notice wrong with the room was the beds. They were sooooo uncomfortable. Then in the morning when we woke up the maid service was knocking at our door at 9 am to clean the room. They came back to the room knocking ever 15-30 minutes. When I took a shower I ran out of hot water and had to take a freezing cold shower. My husband called the desk to ask them if there was a problem with it and they asked him if I turned the hot water on and if I let it run for a while before I got in. (No I didn't this was my first time using indoor plumbing, what an idiot, sarcasm of course)
For the price of this hotel we will never stay there again. We will go camping like we normally do.
Loved it!

The room held the basics, and was very clean. The location was the key. I can't tell you how nice it was to be able to go back to your hotel room any time you needed. It was only a couple minutes away! Staff was great and the plus what that if you pre-registered you were let into the park early, also there were shops directly in the hotel that stayed open very late. Overall, we will come back again!
Lots of fun!

The park was awesome! The rides were all awesome, it was very clean. Food was not abundant, so where there was food it was very crowded.
The 2 biggest rides, Millenium Force and Top Thrill Dragster were working on and off and the Fast Pass was confusing on how it worked, but those are my only complaints.
We stayed at the Hotel Breakers, it was literally a 2 minute walk to the parks! The room was clean and it was nice to be able to go back to the room during the day since it is right there.
I'd go back in a second!
Perfect for Ceder Point and all teens!

If you're going to Ceder Point this is the place to stay. Set right on the beach with 2 outdoor pools with jacuzzis and 1 indoor with jacuzzi. Beautiful view, an incredibly close walking distance to both the water park and amusement park. Not to mention the ice cream parlor located in the middle of the hotel Beaches and Cream and TGI Fridays also located in the middle. If you want to go on vacation to Ceder Point, this is the place to be!
worth the extra

Don't expect 4 Star comfort or furnishings,; the accommodation is basic, the air-conditioning a little loud, but you are not visiting Cedar Point for luxury - the situation of the hotel and early entry to the park are worth the extra cash.
Check out the hotel and head for home and you will see the jams arriving from the outskirts - you will be glad that you avoided them and got on the best rides an hour early.
Our family had a great 3 night stay and did all the best rides in 2 days, with the big rides mainly in the hour before opening.
Your whole experience could be terrible if you try and economise - bite the bullet!
Great Time in Sandusky and at Cedar Point

We just returned from a 4 day trip to Cedar Point on Monday, August 23rd so it is all still fresh in my mind. We drove 7 hours to make this trip to have a great vacation before our eldest son starts college. We had a great time together as a family. Hotel Breakers was very nice (outdoor pools & hot tubs were a hit). Yes, parts of the hotel are older than others but we believe that the price you are paying for the room is well worth it. You can walk back and forth from the park to the hotel and to Soak City. The shuttle service that is free to and from restaurants (and the park) on the site is excellent. If you parked at the amusement park it would cost you $8 - $13 dollars a day. Hotel Breakers reimburses you your parking fee. We had a 2 Queen Bed in the tower section on the 4th floor with a view of Top Thrill Dragster and the Magnum. Very exciting to watch from our window late at night. You have access to the beach, volleyball, TGIF's, jet skiing, and parasailing without having to drive anywhere. The extra perks Hotel Breakers offers is well worth the money. Being this close to the amusement park also allowed our two teenage sons to come and go as they pleased especially when we were pooped and they still had energy to ride all the GREAT rollercoasters at CEDAR POINT! Book it! You will have a great time.
Location, Location, Location!

We stayed in two Tower Unit suites with the little balconies looking over the lake over Labor Day weekend. These units have two queen beds, one bath, french doors that lead to another mini room (The french doors don't really block out noise, though), a pull out couch, coffee maker, sink, cabinets, and dorm sized refrigerator. They are quite small with minimal drawer space. You would be very crowded if you we're cramming six people in -- very tempting given the price. We only had three people in our unit -- my husband, nine-year old son, and I, so it was plenty of space for us. For what you get, Hotel Breakers is quite expensive -- not a great deal -- an expensive vacation budget item, but we stay here every time we go to Cedar Point -- Location, Location, Location as they say. The selling point for us is that here we have comfortable accomodations you can easily walk back to for a relaxing break from the park and the suites for us allow this to be a gathering place to visit with extended family. The children also enjoy the swim options: Indoor or outdoor pool, indoor or outdoor hot tub, and beach/lake. We just love Cedar Point and think this is the best place to stay to make our weekend a real resort get away.
