How about a totally different...
by gkitzmil
How about a totally different carousel like ride that is fast and fun? Why do I ALWAYS have to ride this every time I've gone? Sixty-four horses race four-abreast around the track on the Cedar Downs Racing Derby, one of three carousels at Cedar Point. The horses move back and forth producing a racing effect. The momentum of the ride increases until it reaches a speed of approximately 15 mph. Riders must be at least 48' tall to ride the Cedar Downs Racing Derby.
The Merry-Go-Round Museum
by Yaqui
Here is one of the largest collection of beautiful carousel animals seen in the U.S. They have some rare carousel animals seen by the public. After they are brought here, some are missing parts or need to be totally to be stripped, repainted, and or a piece re-carved. It's painstakingly time consuming because they want to do the job right to return a piece of folk art back to its former glory.

Hubbard's Block 1854
by Yaqui
Sandusky has one of the oldest historical downtown areas. It has been loveling restored and maintained. Hubbard's Block (101 West Water Street) was designed by architect Sheldon Smith in 1854. Owned by Lester Hubbard, this Romanesque building was home to the Cosmopolitan Art and Literary Association, a national organization devoted to the dissemination of magazines and original art works. It's galleries were also located here. The building is made of limestone and sandstone features rounded windows and an iron stairway leading to the second floor that is ornamented with geometric petals.(Treasure by the Bay: The Historic Architecture of Sandusky, Ohio By: Ellie Damm (1989: Associated University Presses, Inc. pp. 53, 56, 170) & http://www.ci.sandusky.oh.us/local-attractions/historic-downtown.htm

"Food off the main path"
A couple of places to eat that are off of the main drag of Rt. 250.
On the west side of town (Rt. 101, Tiffin Ave.) try The Depot. It is just a small place but the food is good, the portions are ample, and the price is very reasonable.
In the heart of Sandusky, right on Sandusky bay go to the New Sandusky Fish Co. Very small, no dine in but if the weather is nice there are a couple tables next to the building and a gezebo across the street.
If you are looking for desert, take Rt. 6 west out of town. On the right will be Toft's. Ice cream that is made from milk bought locally. If it is a hot summer night, the place will be packed.
"Motorcycles - Ohio Thunder Rally / Ohio Bike Week"
A 10 celebration of the two wheel lifestyle. June 5 - June 14, 2009. The events are concluded on Friday and Saturday nites when some of the downtown streets are blocked off so that the bikes can be shown off and admired.
"Autos - Crusin' By the Bay"
Held in late August each year, Crusin by the Bay is the four wheel version of Ohio Bike Week. Only 3 days long it is still very enjoyable to walk about downtown and view the hotrods.

"Lake Erie shoreline Cedar Point Ohio"
What a great place to stay while visiting Cedar Point.
I Highly recommend this type of lodging. If you stay in the cottages you have a splendid view of Lake Erie. The sunsets into the lake every nite, it is a beautiful site!
