WORST PLACE TO STAY

They really need some lessons in cleaning, the place was so dirty and dusty, i don't think they know how to use a vaccumm. Ceiling fell in while was at Cedar Point. The towels are so thin and they feel like sand paper going across your skin. The place smelled of must and mildew. I really wish i would have found all these other reviews before i booked rooms with this hotel. THIS IS A VERY NASTY AND DIRTY PLACE TO STAY!

Travel Tips for Sandusky

Discount entries to cedar point!!

by pamychan

Basically there are a few ways to pay lesser than others to enjoy the same great rides and fun in cedar point. I won't be quoting any prices as I think the prices change every season. Anyway these are the general tips.

1) If you have a group of more than 15 people, call in advance to make a group booking. Make sure u inform the marketing personnel if you have kids who qualify for the child price. (they go by height so check the height from the cedar point website)

2) If you are planning to stay in the area for more than 1 day, do get the Ride & Slide tics. Even if you don't intend to enter Soak City, the price of the Ride and Slide is still cheaper than getting 2 one-day tics. But this is unless u get a discounted one day tic. I will be discussing how u can do this later.

3) I'm not sure if this still works this year, but last year, u can bring a pepsi can and get 10 off admission. There are some pepsi cans printed with the discount details but last year they accepted pepsi cans even without the discount printed on it. No harm trying though!

4) Military personnel can also get huge discounts for themselves as well as their family.

5) AAA discounts are also available but only if you buy it from AAA itself.

6) There are many discount coupons out there.

-from the cedar point website
(take note they actually post really good discounts on their websites from time to time but many of these have some limits on the dates you can use it so take note of that.)

-some people get cedar point getaway guides sent to their homes. If I'm not wrong, they apply for that through the website as well. Cedar point even has a separate version of the guide sent to Canada so Canadians out there, go apply for it!!!

Ok that’s about it for now. I’ll update more when I think of it.

Marblehead Light

by Toughluck

Across the bay from Sandusky is Marblehead Penninsula. It gets it's name from the limestone that forms it base. The center of the peninsula consist of a huge limestone quarry. But out on the end is the Marblehead Lighthouse. Established to guide mariners into Sandusky Bay or around the islands of Lake Erie. It is one of the pleasantest places to sit and watch people and the water.

Cedarpoint Amusement Park

by Yaqui

In the summer of 1870, local businessperson Louis Zistel opened a small beer garden, bathhouse and dance floor on the peninsula. He would bring guests over to Cedar Point on his steamboat, Young Reindeer, for the modest price of 25 cents. By the 1880s it was noted in the local paper that “sailing and bathing parties to Cedar Point are all the rage.”

The history of thrill rides at Cedar Point began in 1892 with the introduction of the peninsula’s first roller coaster, the Switchback Railway. The addition of the 25-foot-tall, 10-mph scream machine would forever shape the future of Cedar Point. Later years would bring a wide variety of rides, roller coasters, games, shows and more. Visionaries such as George Boeckling, George Roose, Emile Legros, Robert L. Munger, Jr. and Richard Kinzel have all played a significant part in creating the ultimate amusement park that more than 3 million guests trek to each and every summer.http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/news/history/index.cfm

Cedarpoint was fun and it has some of the fastest and scariest rides you will ever experience. There are lots of rides there for all ages to enjoy. Lots of places to eat and lots of places to browse and enjoy. It holds many wonderful memories of when my hubby was growing up and this place was always the highlight of the summer.

Hours change so make sure to checkout the web site:

'Snake River Falls'

This ride takes you up an 82 foot tall water flume that drops you to the bottom in approximatly 1.3 seconds! If you want to get soaked, this is the ride to be on. There won't be a dry person in the boat

The main attraction to Sandusky is Cedar Point. It takes a full day to take in the park. The lines can be a bit long and hot in the summer. Bring your own water so you don't end up buying it from the extremely overpriced vending machines. The best time to come is on a non-holiday week day. You can usually save $10 per ticket by purchasing your tickets at the Miejers (grocery store) in Sandusky.

My favorite ride is The Raptor. Having your feet free hanging makes the ride very comfortable as if you were flying. I usually love all the coasters, but The Top Thrill Dragster is REALLY fast and scary !

"Kellys Island"

Kelly's Island is one of the Lake Erie islands just off the coast from Sandusky. You can catch the ferry over from Marblehead. Sometimes when work gets too hectic, I will leave early and come to Kellys Island and spend the day roller bladding around the island.
