visit Wooster Memorial Park

by davecallahan

Hiking and Birding in Wooster Memorial Park are favorite pastimes for locals and visitors.
The trails are all foot-made with very little additives (planks and paving) and extend in several sections or loops to form a total of 5 miles of walking. The park is noted for its beautiful wooded areas and steep ravines.
There are many restrictions meant to keep the park free from environmental and noise pollution (no bikes, motor vehicles, horses, alcohol, firearms). Limited camping is allowed with pre-registration (330-263-5207)

Near the parking area there is a pavilion and some picnic tables with grills for your convenience as well as maintained restrooms. The big advantage this park has is the natural beauty and lack of development. Too many other parks put in skate ramps and ball fields and playgrounds and you lose the connection to flora and fauna that a city park should maintain.
The park is a carry-out park which means whatever you bring in you carry out.

A tributary of Little Killbuck Creek (Rathburn Run) runs through the park and provides another layer of diversity for wildlife.

The park was dedicated as Spangler Park in honor of Paul Spangler who donated the land.

The Wonderful World of Woo

"The College of Wooster"

This was home sweet home during my first and third years of college, one hour's drive south of Cleveland. I studied Geology and made some great friends here at The College of Wooster, a small liberal arts school with a lot to offer.

More details and some photos coming soon.

Feel free to email me if you have any detailed questions about the school or town.

"Places to Stay"

I highly recommend The Wooster Inn, especially if you are visiting people on campus. The Inn is next to a big golf course and has great meals. It's a bit pricey, but worth it.

CLICK HERE to visit the Wooster Inn's website or visit my accommodation tip below for more information.

There are a few cheaper places to stay in downtown, which is only a 20 minute walk from campus. More info coming soon.
