OH-585 Road Trip
by tspeegle09
Go ahead and take a road trip to Barberton for a classic Whitehouse Chicken dinner and some homemade ice cream from Durbin Magic Freeze. It will be worth your while, mostly because you'll get to travel down OH-585, which can be quite scenic on a pretty day. The Ohio hills and farmhouses are very photogenic when the sunlight hits them just right.
Wooster, OH.... halfway there.....

We travel often between Rochester, NY and lower Indiana. Wooster is a convenient half-way point on that trip in both directions. Since we are there only overnite, we don't get to see much beyond downtown Wooster so my tips will be limited to those subjects.
The town is a college town with official website http://www.woosteroh.com/. It is the county seat (office) for Wayne County. The buildings are ornate, 19th century style; there are only three or four main streets in town so you can walk to most stores/shops. They have a monster of a Rubbermaid store (4 floors and an old elevator with a folding grate). There also is a CorrelleWare outlet where you can get place settings (older patterns) for 50% off retail.
Wikipedia info: 25000 permanent residents (not counting students) in 11000 households and 50% are families. The average family income is $47000.
Lynn St.John, Womens' Basketball coach is a native Woosterian.
By the way, the proper pronunciation is not WOOster but WUHster.
Another good access to Wooster info is http://www.mainstreetwooster.org
