Restaurants in the Bricktown Area

by Asmith8399

Hi Guys
I am coming in for a convention and want to know some inexpensive restaurants in the bricktown area. Also a real good place for breakfast.

I'll assume you want inexpensive and good! Our Mexican places are good; Abuelos seems to have a better reputation whereas Chelinos has canalside dining. Both are fairly inexpensive.

In terms of breakfast, we have in Bricktown a nicely-designed sit-down Sonic Cafe (OKC is its headquarters) that serves an inventive breakfast menu in its own right. There is also a 24-hour IHOP across the street from the Bricktown Ballpark. I check out The Buzz in the business district (Robinson and Park Ave) for great espresso. The Renaissance Hotel has Caffiena's on the ground floor.

Try Zio's - good (not great) quality Italian, nice setting on the canal, good prices, huge quanities.

I strongly suggest the Bricktown Brewery. Entrees as well as appetizers there cost between $8 & 9. We had the beer battered cod with beer battered french fries, and a hamburger. Both were super delicious! Wish I lived there so I could eat there more often! They brew their own beer there and there's a full bar upstairs with pool tables, phoose ball table, and some video games. A really cool place. I've got pics of it on my blog, just scroll down.
Stay away from Mickey Mantle and Toby Kieth, and from Crabtown. Good food, but very expensive prices. Mickey Mantle sells an appetizer for $25!

Go here only if you want pics. There are also pics of places to eat along the river walk, like the bowling alley where the wait staff comes to your lane, or you can eat outside along ther river. http://nxpense.blogspot.com/

One thing that helped me was to be able to pull up the menus on the web.

FYI, there's a Coyote Ugly along the river now, too, if you want to visit someplace else worth talking about.

Travel Tips for Oklahoma City

Near Beer....

by kenmerk

While the steaks are robust in Oklahoma City, the beers unfortunately are not.

For reasons unknownst to me, it seems the only beer available is watered down 3.2 beer. This can make it somewhat challenging to find a proper beverage to wash that 40 oz porterhouse down with. (and also necessitate more than a couple visits to the rest room)

When I am in Oklahoma City I usually only stay long enough for a bite to eat and stretch my legs before going on to visit family in Texas. Every time I see this water park near I-40 or Frontier City near I-35 the kid inside of me wishes I was staying longer. One day soon I am going to make a special trip just to stay in Oklahoma City again. Haven't done that in a while and it is a great city.

Best Food Around

by msbrandysue about The Cheesecake Factory

The Cheesecake Factory encompasses it all. It has a fun atmosphere, great bar, chic style, nice waiters, great food, and even better dessert. When you hear the name Cheesecake Factory you may think it's only dessert. Oh my goodness, do not make that mistake! The food is absolutely wonderful. The 27 page menu offers variety upon variety. Anything you want is here. Any type of food is available.

And, yes, you have to have some cheesecake. I believe they have over 50 types of cheesecakes with other desserts including cakes and pies.

Not in the mood to sit in a nice dining area? Take some to go! You can order any of the food and dessert to go if you would rather relax in your room.

Do not miss this place! It's a great date place, as well, if you want a special evening.

Monday - Thursday 11:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.
Friday & Saturday 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 a.m.
Sunday 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.

Picture coming soon... The best appetizer is the avacado eggrolls. I would either order these as a meal, though, or share them with others.
My favorite entree is the spicy chicken nachos (which is actually under the 5 page appetizer menu).
All the cheesecakes are unbelievable!
If you want to order drinks I enjoyed the Mai Tai, and the Godiva Chocolate Martini is strong!

Bass Pro Shop Outdoor World

I can't tell you how much I got a giggle out of this place because of the shere size of this place. Over 110,000 Sq Ft. of nothing but outdoor equipment you can buy to fit just about anything your going to take on in the sports world.....wow! It had lots of wonderful displays, a little arcade, firing range for guns and bow & arrows and so much more.....wow again! One thing that will always stand out in my mind and heart is my friends saying, "Where else can you take your prom dates too!" It must had been prom night because so many young couples roaming around in the store that night......lol!

Night Falls

With the coming of twilight, the perspectives at the Oklahoma City National Memorial change significantly. By day, the monument is a sober reminder of a terrible event in our history. By night, the memorial is a beautiful place.
