AAA Baseball - Texas Rangers
by mrclay2000
The Oklahoma Redhawks, the AAA affiliate of the Texas Rangers, have been playing in their new facility in Bricktown. Completed at the cost of roughly $21 million to the taxpayer, this minor league ballpark is a wonderful addition to the metro's MAPPS project, though at first we were angered at its new name (the Southwestern Bell Bricktown Ball Park, now stupidly euphemized as the Brick). You can get your cold beer on the concourse, your bratwurst or cotton candy, and watch great AAA action from any of the stadium's comfortable seats or suites. Fine statues of Oklahoma's baseball greats Mickey Mantle and Johnny Bench adorn the western walks outside the stadium.
I Love This Bar!
by msbrandysue about Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill
I went on a Friday night and was surprised at how low maintanence it was. There was a band playing country music. There was plenty of room at the bar and many tables available. There is also a patio that you can sit at. We decided to sit at the bar and just take in the country ambience. The bartenders (all female) were really nice. We even got a cheaper bill then I thought which is always a nice surprise :) I had draft beer and some cheese fries. I would recommend those if you like that sort of thing. I didn't eat an actual meal.
The whole planeful of people...
by nomadic
The whole planeful of people was shipped to the Biltmore Hotel in Oklahoma City and our room and board were paid by United. I was on the same flight as my CEO so he and I quickly made plans to rent a car to drive back to SFO (24 hours non-stop). However as we started calling the rental car companies we were told there was no car available to be taken out of the state. After a few tries we gave up and it dawned upon us that we had no idea when we would return home.
We decided to make the best of it, and hired a taxi to take us around the city itself. Here we dropped by the Oklahoma City bombing memorial. Site of another terrorist activity.
Gothic Sprawl
by mrclay2000
Just two blocks north of the CityChurch, one of my favorite churches in the city takes up an entire block. The First Baptist Church is one of the largest religious structures in the city. Though mere size may be accounted no merit in itself, and its interior judged to be stark and uninspired (so to speak), its nave is decorated with a substantial row of stained-glass windows. Overall, the structure is one of few downtown churches with true Gothic pretensions.

"VISITOR'S CENTER"
If you should be traveling from Texas to Oklahoma City on the I-44, be prepared to pay a small toll fee for highway usage. You will also encounter a great visitor center that has a helpful staff and a small souvenir shop. Attraction brochures and various maps are available to all visitors that can help you guide your way through Oklahoma City or the surrounding areas.
