Boutiques in Bricktown

by kjquaile

Hello, I am a big Lucky Magazine fan. It has opened me up to a whole new world of boutiqing. I am 30 years old and of a somewhat modern type of person. Are there any hip boutiques in Bricktown, Oklahoma City? Thanks!

Travel Tips for Oklahoma City

If you have few extra hours,...

If you have few extra hours, head thirty minutes south to Norman. The Sam Noble Museum of Natural History (opening in April '00) will house the most extensive collection of dinosaur skeletons and fossils in the Southwestern United States. Norman is a college town, so take time to walk through campus and check out the local restaurants and shops on campus corner. Sports fans visiting in the fall will not want to miss the excitement of Game Day on the OU campus, where Sooner football demonstrates that it still holds a grasp on the heartstrings of Oklahomans.

excellent sushi

by tinyvulture about Sushi Neko

Such a cute restaurant. Great for a dress-up occasion like a birthday or anniversary (make reservations for dinner). You can request to sit at the bar and watch the sushi chefs in action. The waitstaff is knowledgeable and efficient. I actually don't eat fish, so I usually get a bowl of hot, savory miso soup and some avocado rolls. A light but filling dinner. So tasty!

a nice place for a stroll or beer

by richiecdisc

Bricktown is Oklahoma City's attempt at getting some of its luster back. In the era of the “land run” thousands of people flocked to the area as they were giving land away. For Europeans, it was perhaps the very foundation of the hope that America offered to a class of people that felt locked out of such things in their own countries. Bricktown was later an area of segregation where blacks and whites worked towards prosperity in good times despite the walls built to keep them apart. As things deteriorated so did the neighborhood and it was not until the 1970s that people even thought of renovating it. Even harder financial times stymied that and not until recently was the area refurbished and earmarked as the centerpiece of the city's revitalization.

With an amateur ballpark, convention center, tons of shops, restaurants and pubs, Bricktown is where locals socialize and tourists come to enjoy the amenities. There is a great walking path that meanders along the river dividing the two sides of Bricktown. You can walk one way and take a boat back too.

GOVERNOR'S MANSION

by jedd43

This stately mansion has been the official residence of Oklahoma's Chief Executive since 1928. Designed by the same architectural firm that was chosen to design the State Capitol Building, the Governor's mansion reflects the same Dutch Colonial style.

WFTR's new Oklahoma City Page

by WFTR

I lived in Oklahoma City for six years in the early 90's and for the most part enjoyed it very much. While most of my Oklahoma information is contained on my main state page, I can give a little bit of information specific to activities in the city.
