Travel Tips for Tulsa

Old Tulsa Central High School

by AlbuqRay

Both of my parents went to this school. Paul Harvey (real name Paul Harvey Aurandt) of radio fame was in my father's class. Eddie Sutton, a famous basketball coach, was the coach there when I was in high school. It is no longer a school. Public Service Company owns it.

What Sundays are all about

by neilward about Ryans

Every Sunday we'd drive here and have a 'buffet breakfast/lunch'.The "T" bones steaks were huge, and so very tasty,as we were in the middle of mad cows disease in UK at the time we hadn't had a "T" bone for quite a while.
The eat as much as you can culture seems to be very big over there, with many people just eating for the sake of it.
Come about 1pm and all of a sudden the places is instantly full of churchgoers, who have just finished their service. T bone steak, bloody gorgeous, salad, ice cream and of course ....... a diet coke to cancel out all that colhesteral......

The Musical "Oklahoma!" - Doin' Fine in Tulsa

by BixB

In 1998, the London Daily Mail described the musical "Oklahoma!" this way: "There's nothing corny about this wonderful, fresh show. It's not just a classic American musical but -- and this is the real surprise -- a truthful, touching and gripping drama about growing up and falling in love, about dreams and nightmares."

Most people are not aware that it won its authors a Pulitzer Prize in 1943. Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein II made their glorious music and Agnes de Mille's innovative choreography an integral part of the story-telling process - a novel approach at the time, but one that set the pattern and standards for musical theater still followed today.

What a better place to experience this classic than in the Sooner State itself! Every year, from June through August, "Oklahoma!" is presented on the "Discoveryland" outdoor stage 10 miles west of downtown Tulsa. With a talented cast of 50 performers, live animals and a real horse-drawn "surry with the fringe on top", the charming tale of a handsome cowboy named Curly and his romance of the dreamy farm-girl Laury, comes to life in a wooded 2000-seat amphiteater under the Oklahoma skies. The production is very professionally done and a number of pre-show activities make for a complete and highly enjoyable evening at an extremely reasonable price (have you priced a Broadway show lately?!!).

For Summer 2010, ticket prices were: Adults $19.95 and Children (10 and under) FREE. Prices for the optional Pre-show "Ranch Dinner" were: Adults $10.95 and Children $6.95. Packages (including a hotel package for two at the Hilton Southern Hills) and group discounts were also available.

DragonBallZ Profiles

by Bounty

"Goku"

This is Goku. The main character in DBZ. He was belived to be the world's strongest, but Trunks is #1. He is however the 3rd strongest right behind trunks(1) and his son Gohan(2). He is a saiyan. He was 1st to achieve Super Saiyan, he did that when Frieza killed his bestfriend Krillin. His strongest attack is the SpiritBomb in wich he holds his hand above his head, and the ball of energy slowly gathers energy from all things on earth, and eventually everything in the universe. As it gets bigger he begins to sweat a lot and eventualy he pulls it down pulls it back and fires it by swinging it forward. He married Chichi and had two kids named Gohan and Goten. He gets killed once by Radits, sorta. This is how it went he and his enemy Piccolo the Namekian had to join forces to kill Radits, A saiyan claiming to be Goku's brother. Goku was a saiyan but was sent to kill everyone on earth as a little boy but fell and hurt his head. He was then hit by a car I think that was driven by Bulma, she later has children with Vegeta. Now back to Radits. They were all fighting and Piccolo and Goku were losing untill Goku grabbed Radits tail, a saiyans weak spot unless they have it removed as an adult, wich Goku did. But Radits tricked Goku into letting him go. Then he beat the crap out of him. So eventuall Piccolo got his arm cuttoff I think. Goku grabbed Radits again and held him tightly so Piccolo could perform his special attack Makankosoupo. The blast hit Radits and Goku killing them both. But eventuall after training in King Kai's world he was wished back to life.

"Piccolo"

He is a Namek from the planet Namek. Ok this is how it goes. Kame a Namek was going to become the Guardian of Earth so he had to be pure. So he used his powers to seperate all his evil into another form called Piccolo Diamio. So if one dies so does the other. So in the old show of DB, Goku faught Piccolo alot and finnaly got sick of him and killed him. But as he died he spit out an egg that hatched piccolo. Piccolo was evil untill Radits came and they all helped kill him. But Radits said the other saiyans would come in a year and with Goku dead they had to train very hard do he took Gohan, Goku's son to train. Eventuall they became friends and Piccolo's only real friend. So they faught the new Saiyans Vegeta and Nappa. Then when Gohan was about to be killed Piccolo ran and stood their and the blast hit him almost killing him. For the first time he cared about someone. Well now back to him. His limbs cane regerate after he loses them. His limbs cant stretch for faroff punches in the sky. His special move is the Makankosopo or SpecialBeamCannon. He's a strong character but can't keep up with the saiyans when they achieve SSJ form.

"Gohan"

This is Gohan. He is 1/2 Saiyan, his father is Goku, his mom is Chichi, and his little brother is Goten. He is the 2nd strongest person alive. When he was little and Vegeta and Nappa were coming to destroy the Earth in a year, Piccolo went to train him. He got really strong, but he was still afraid to use his power. When Freiza was on Namek and he shot through Piccolo, Gohan saved him by picking him up over his back and flying to their ship(Gohan was only about 4 or 5 then). Well he's really strong and doesn't really like to fight very much and wants to become a scientist when he grows up.

"Vegeta"

This is Vegeta. He's a siyan. One of the really strong Saiyans. Originaly he was bad and killed his Ally Nappa for losing. Later he got killed by frieza but was brought back to life with the dragon balls on Namek. He becomes good.... sorta, and eventually has a son named Trunks and a daughter named Bra. His sone grows to become the strongest person alive.

"Trunks"

He is Vegeta's son. He's the most powerful saiyan alive. He can achieve Super Saiyan without a lot of Training. When he gets older he has a sword. His bestfriend is Goten, Goku's 2nd son. They fuse together sometimes and make Gotenks. He's pretty powerfull and has the ability to hide his power level down to 5 and then charge it up all the wat for a fight.
