Travel Tips for Tulsa
Go to Discoveryland Oklahoma,...
by jayhawk
Go to Discoveryland Oklahoma, the official home of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, “Oklahoma!” The BBQ is average, but the musical is excellent. Come early for the Indian dancing and country music floor show. The theater is outside, so wear bugspray and pray for a breeze. Don't miss the strawberrys and ice cream.

Discoveryland! is located 10 miles west of downtown Tulsa. From I-97, go 5 miles west on 41st Street. Tulsa is not the most exciting place to visit, but it is a great place to live. The city is clean and has a small town feeling to it.
Best Coneys in the World!
by caminoreal about Coney I-Lander(s)
Throughout the United States there are cities where coneys -- hot dogs covered with chili and maybe cheese and onions -- are a popular dish. And there are cities where coneys aren't popular.
Tulsa is definitely a Coney Town! We have dozens of restaurants and local chains specializing in coneys.
I love 'em. I've eaten coneys at Coney Island, in three boroughs of NYC, in Cincinnati and in other cities, but I believe Tulsa's are the best.
And my favorites here are the coneys at the Coney I-Lander restaurants, of which there are about half a dozen in Tulsa.
The chili is to die for, and a tray loaded with three "loaded" coneys (chili, cheese, mustard and onions, doused with a liberal sprinkling of cayenne pepper) is like a little piece of heaven. The chili-covered tamales are good. So is just a straight bowl of chili. But the coneys are what it's all about.
Yumm! I believe I'll go get some now.
Philtower Building
by mrclay2000
Likewise listed on the National Register of Historic Places is the Philtower Building, built in the late 1920s by Waite Phillips, yet another oil baron who left part of his fortune in the Tulsa skyline (his also lent his name to Phillips 66). The Philtower is interesting in its broad base and high Gothic arched entrance, and its increasingly narrowing highrise until it terminates in something of a sharp apex. The lobby is dressed in Italian marble and suspended lighting fixtures, so like the Mid-Continent Building nearby it is difficult to choose which is more beautiful, the interior or exterior.
