 | Renaissance Tulsa Hotel and Convention Center: Tulsa's newest luxury hotel

The Renaissance Tulsa Hotel & Convention Center, built in 2003, is Tulsa's newest luxury hotel. Its location in South Tulsa provides numerous shopping and entertainment choices nearby along the busy 71st Street corridor. It also provides good access to the rest of the city from US 169. However, Its location is also its biggest drawback, in that it sits on an unremarkable site beside the highway, behind a Super Target store and shopping center, and next to a large apartment complex. 64 of its 300 guestrooms have balconies, but there is nothing about the views of suburban retail and multi-family housing that makes this a particular selling point. The nine-floor hotel itself, with its gabled metal roof and tower, evokes a modern chateau and the european-influenced interior furnishings are quite elegant. Public areas are spacious and beautiful and rooms are arranged around a soaring open atrium. The regular guest rooms are pleasant and nicely furnished, with very comfortable mattresses and down comforters, though perhaps somewhat on the small size. There are 35 suites, but I cannot speak to those accomodations. The hotel has a very nice restaurant, The Cyprus Grill, which is well worth a visit. Several very good chain restaurants and a Starbucks are also within walking distance across the shopping center parking lot (Carabbas for italian, Abuelo's for mexican, Fuddruckers for hamburgers and Panera Bread for sandwiches, soups, and pastries, are all recommended). Several more restuarants and a multi-screen Cinemark Theater and Imax are directly across 71st street. One could conceivably walk there also, but the typically daunting 71st street traffic may make this a dicey proposition. At the very least, cross at the light. On final analysis, for those visiting Tulsa who desire top-quality accomodations in a freshly developed, highly active area, the Renaissance is a great choice. For a more relaxing setting, other lodging might be preferable.
New, nicely furnished, good exercise area and pool, near many restaurants and activities.
