There is good information from OSF about 'things to do in the area'. Ashland is only eighty miles from Crater Lake National Park, one of the truly marvelous wonders of the natural world. The famous Rogue River is easily accessible about thirty miles away, with fishing, rafting, etc. There are mountain lakes, hiking and fishing available within thirty miles. Mount Ashland, a good ski area in winter, is overlooked by visitors, but is a beautiful natural area with unique geologic and botanical features.

A Hippie Town

Ashland is a lovely town in Southern Oregon. It's very liberal and full of open-minded and tolerant people.
It has loooooads of neat little stores with stuff you won't usually find in regular stores.
There are also plenty of restaurants and bars, which you might not notice at first as most of them are on the 1st floor of the buildings, so take a closer look!

Ashland also hosts the Shakespear Festival which offers great plays at an amazing outdoor stage!
