I want to surprise my husband with a trip to Bend (he lived there as a small child). I need some feedback on where to stay that is romantic and yet has things to do . . . anyone out there have any suggestions????
Funny you should ask - I travel to Bend quite a bit and love staying at the Riverhouse Resort. Their rooms overlooking the Deschutes River are incredible and can be very romantic. You can request a fireplace and even a jacuzzi in your room for a little added romance. Have fun!
If you want to do any shopping, do it in Oregon. Oregon has no state sales tax. The outlet malls are the perfect location if you want cheap brand items.
Too bad by now the exchange rate for the US dollar makes the prices uninteresting for Europeans.
This is Newberry National Volcanic Monument. Located south of Bend off route 97. The entire area of the Monument consists of 50,000 acres of lakes, lava flows and geologic features. The volcano erupted some 7,000 years ago leaving nine square miles of lava. There are trails for hiking throughout this area.
If I had one word to describe Bend, Oregon, it would be GORGEOUS! This lovely little city is filled with so much beauty, it is no wonder the secret is out on this place and people are moving here in masses. I spent a summer in this mountain gem of a town, with breathtaking scenery. If you are into hiking, camping, canoeing and general outdoor activities, this place is not to be missed. I just hope it hasn't grown too much since I was last there.
