Winter was cold and windy, often unforgiving to those who dared risk the elements. At nightfall, the heaviness could be felt by the slithering dense fog atop the ocean's surface. Fog horns would signal the arrival of loved ones returning from the merciless infinite cradling of the sea. Lighthouses stood on alert to guide captains and their crews safely into the harbor by casting out a glorious beacon of light which appeared to part the darkness for the admirable ships surviving their journey on the high seas.

At age one through three, the shores of the Pacific Northwest Coast was my backyard and playground...often I'll be called back to play...and the lure is so strong, I always listen. Once there, it feels as if I'd never left...
