Assorted Eccentric Sculptures
by glabah
Aside of the sculptures in the plaza between Central Park and The Arts Center, there are a number of other less obvious, but still quite interesting, sculptures scattered through the city. At least a few of these are on Madison Street.
Outside and to the east of The Arts Center is an eccentric mechanical sculpture that moves arms on the top of it and appears to row the air when the crank is turned. This is about 30 feet south of Madison Avenue on 7th Street. (see 1st photo)
Also on Madison Avenue, on the north side of the street, there is a frog scuplture attached to the side of a brick building between 1st and 2nd streets. You will only be able to see the frog if you are on the sidewalk and walking westward. (see 2nd photo)
Home Away From Home

"It's All About the Beavers"
My visits (8) to Corvallis have all been part of a project I am working on at Oregon State University. The OSU mascot is the Beaver and the people at the university and in the town take this very seriously (or as seriously as you can take a beaver).
There is a lot of spirit and pride here about the school and its football team.
Beyond that however, Corvallis is a quiet, pleasant, alomst-charming city that could be the model of how a small community should be.
Corvallis
by bhorton
Located in the heart of the Willamette Valley and home to Oregon State University, Corvallis is the classic college town. Ancient trees line the wide streets and shelter red brick or white masonry buildings in this attractive community. The nearby Willamette River adds to the appeal of this location. Corvallis offers easy access to the Pacific Ocean, the Cascade Mountains, the high desert of Eastern Oregon and the attractions of larger cities such as Portland and Eugene.
Corvallis is most famous for being so close to the great school: the University of Oregon. Go Ducks!
