Job needed

by Katha81

I'm a German visitor in Eugene looking for a summerjob. Any ideas? Where? It is very urgent!

RE: Job needed

Enjoy the United States- stay out of Eugene!
Go to California!
If you must be in Oregon, go to Portland. It's only 2 hrs north and has plenty of jobs. Eugene has none-you'd be lucky to work at McDonald's.
Eugene is trufully the lamest place in Oregon you could stay.
I'm moving out of here as fast as possible.

Travel Tips for Eugene

Well, if you're going to be in Eugene, you may as well try to see a show at the concert center. It's quite modern, and the shows (concerts, opera, plays, etc.) are pretty darn good. The people are very friendly for the most part, very liberal. People don't think twice about helping you find your way or giving advice on where to eat.

It is surprising that so little attention is paid to honoring the locations used to shoot the mega-hit, "National Lampoon's Animal House". Perhaps it speaks to the fact that U of O students are not a heavily Greek bunch and are goal-directed and focused on their future careers.

Please refer to the web address attached for an excellent guide to the actual locations used.

The best highlight is seeing the where the food fight took place- near the 'Subway' in the student union "fishbowl".

Sadly, there is a very lonely, small plaque at the site where the actual used for the exteriors of the deltas took place at 751 E. 11th Street.

Not only is the drive to the coast amazing, but there is much to see on the coast as well. North of Florence about 11 miles you will find the famous Sea Lion Caves, home to the largest sea cave in the world. The sea lions all gather there and are amusing to watch... There is also a great view from the caves to Heceta Head Lighthouse, rumoured to be the most photographed lighthouse in the world..

That Latin America Flavor

by birchy99 about Red Agave

I don't see a category that fits this restaurant. It isn't Mexican but it has Mexican influences. It isn't African but again there are African influences. The best I can come with is Latin American. This is a small restaurant tucked away at the North end of Willamette Street not far from the Amtrack station. It is very popular so make your reservations ahead of time. Parking can be a problem. Noise level is moderately high, service is prompt and courteous. There is a full bar and a good wine selection.
I think what is apealing are the variety of dishes that are offered. Like I said they have Latin influences but vary widely. Always there is seafood, but there are also beef and pork dishes offered.
This restaurant was voted one of the best Latin American restaurants in Eugene by "Eugene Weekly" readers. I had scallops grilled with bacon and served in a rich cream sauce. Joanne had a white fish dish smothered in all kinds of vegies and our friend had huge tomato salad and a bowl of corn chowder soup. Everyone agreed the dishes were well prepared and worth the money. However, I found my scallops to be a bit mushy or soft in the center. Not sure if that what was intended or not.
