unpleasant experience
by ken21
Very outdated rooms. Dirty, poor housekeeping service. I have stayed here every year for the past 12 years, but I will find something cleaner and more accessable to get to the rooms for next year. When you see a 69% rating, as you will on this place, there's a reason for that poor rating. Prices are high and motel 6 has rooms as nice. No refrigerator, no microwave, you have to drag your luggage up stairs even if your on the first floor. They have loud groups renting the place on Sat nights and the noise is acceptable to them. Finding a parking spot by Sat night is tough, every year I've stayed there.
You can do much much better with very little effort

Unique Quality: Nice outside appearance, good things end there.
Directions: near shopping mall

Large, yet cozy
by alsport
I spent four days at the Valley River Inn, during the New Year's Day holiday and it was rather pleasant. The hotel is quite large but the rooms are of comfortable size. All of the amenities are like you would find at a good, high-end hotel. The rooms were spacious, warm, there was a small gym and the employees were very helpful and friendly.
Unique Quality: The hotel is adjacent to a large shopping center and restaurants so there is something for everyone there. It's located a few miles (if even that) from downtown and the University of Oregon.

Beta Theta Pi

This is the Beta house. I recommend staying there for a few nights. A great place to party and hang out. Great cook, single bedrooms, ethernet, etc. Just be sure you´re a Beta.
But seriously, the Valley River Inn and The Hilton are two pretty good hotels, with the former a little better.
You can't go wrong with most...

You can't go wrong with most of the downtown Portland Hotels, alot of good ones. Expensive (Riverplace) to Moderate (Mallory, Imperial). The new Westin is nice. I also like the 5th Avenue Suites, Vintage Plaza, Governor.
In Lincoln City, there is the Inn at Spanish Head.
In Eugene, Valley River Inn, get a riverside room.
In Sisters, Ponderosa Lodge (Best Western).
In Government Camp (Mt. Hood) Timberline Lodge is unforgetable.
