Wonderful Historic Log Lodge

Range of choices from just above $100 to the mid-$200's. Offers a discount for AAA and also no sales tax (in Oregon) or hotel tax (because they are outside county limits). This 1924 log lodge is a step back in time, with all the amenities of modern travel. The original historic lodge has five rooms upstairs, with a large Great Room and spacious meeting room below. A deck looks out over gardens and pine trees. Luxury cabins are available on the lower section of the property. I stayed in Rm. 5, a small but wonderfully comfortable and cozy room, and absolutely loved it. Larger rooms include Rm. 4, where Clark Gable stayed many years ago. Pacific Northwest furnishings, private baths and direct-dial phones made this lodging a treat. Just right for those of us addicted to the Internet :) The complimentary continental breakfast was delicious. Additional snacks are offered at no charge throughout the day and evening: fresh fruit, iced tea, wine, cheese and crackers, and milk and cookies. No pool or workout facilities here, but a perfect place to get away and do some reading or writing. Peaceful, quiet luxury.
