Well Kept Small Motel
by topmarmot about Vagabond Lodge
Rather than spend $220+ at the Columbia Gorge Hotel, we opted to stay at the Vagabond which is basically next door for less than half that. The Vagabond is small and appears to be family run. It is very clean and well kept. We had Room 61 which has a balcony and superb view over the Columbia River (see photo). Situated on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Columbia River provides great vistas.

Hotels in the Hood River Area
by smolakid
Hello VT'ers
Am I the 1st to ask a question on Hood River and the
Columbia Gorge Areas? This August around the 23rd
I'm planning a 3-4 day visit and would like to know
about some of the "reasonable" hotels in the area.
I know about a couple resorts close by that are a lillte
out of my range. Somewhere between 80/night up
to 140/night; for 3-4 adults.
Then, we plan on 3-4 nights up in southern Washington in the Gifford Pinchot Area. I was thinking
about the Packwood/Randle Area for the 2nd part of
our visit.
Thanks for your input.
What about Cascade Locks or The Dalles or even
Mt Hood for lodging? Are these places too far
from the many falls located in the Gorge?

Good link for hotels in the area.
There is no concert schedule for the Gorge yet. I hope you will be there for a good show.

The Shilo Inns chain has several Oregon properties. We always stay in the one in The Dalles and it's great. There's a really nice hotel next to the big fancy Columbia Gorge hotel ... same great view and way cheaper. Vagabond, maybe? (This is in Hood River.) Maryhill Museum is an amazing place if you get that far east (maybe 20 miles from The Dalles). Also the Stonehenge there is worth a visit. Enjoy.
