Somewhere for lunch...
Being the first to ask a question in the La Grande forum doesn't give me great hope that anyone will answer, but here goes...:o)
We will be travelling through La Grande at some point next spring and it will most likely be lunchtime. I know the town has changed beyond all recognition since I lived there nearly 20 years ago so can anyone recommnend a restaurant for a good lunch? Someplace that maybe does burgers, sandwiches, etc, and is not a chain? I may need a good vanilla malt by that stage, so if they have those, all the better.

(ps - is the Long Branch still there and can you still get a bowl of noodles at 2am? :o)

Hi Jane ... I've never heard of La Grande - but I've found many great places looking up other's questions, so I did a bit of Google and found the following link from the tourism link of one of the town's newspapers:

Thanks Nomad! There certainly weren't any 'espresso bars' back in my college years there! Looks like there is no shortage of places to eat anyway.

LaGrande has a world-class restaurant, right downtown, called Foley Station. Here's their website:

We have a friend in LaGrande who has taken us to eat there a couple times. He delights in showing off that his small town has such a fantastic restaurant. I highly recommend it for lunch (they also serve breakfast & dinner).

I think Foley Station is a new place since I was there - sounds great! And Adams Avenue will be easy to get to.
By the way, I am originally from Hillsboro - graduated from Glencoe too many years ago!

Sorry, I guess it's been a while since I checked here, and didn't see that you had replied. I'm glad to see that you got my suggestion for lunch at Foley Station, when you go to La Grande in April. I know you'll enjoy it.
And that's cool that you used to live in Hillsboro! My son goes to Glencoe High now! Go Tide!

We had a fabulous breakfast at Foley Station last summer when we were passing through. Highly reccommended!
