Good, central location
I often stay at the Portland City Center Marriott--primarily because of its location (central to everything!), but the service and food certainly help in keeping me a regular customer there. The staff has always been extremely friendly and helpful. The food is good, although last few times I went, they did not have their awesome salmon bisque (with a shot of vodka to mix in!) Every time I check in, I ask if they can bring that delicious soup back! (Perfect for a nighttime meal after arriving from a long flight.)
Unique Quality: Great location, great service. For you Marriott Rewards members, well worth the stay for your points.

Restaurant in Portland
I will be staying at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront on SW Naito Parkway at the beginning of August. I would like to go to dinner with a group of about ten people at a nearby restaurant. Can anyone recommend a good place that is quiet so that we can hear each other talk and the food is good?

There's quite a variety in that area - depending on how far away you would consider an OK walking distance. Is there any particular type of food that would be preferred?

Not knowing what else to recommend, I would suggest the Veritable Quandry

but a group that size would probably be best to make a reservation.

Thank you so much for your replies. I will check out the place you suggested. I am not picky as long as the food is good and the place is not too noisy. I am planning a dinner for a group of people I do not know well, so I just wanted food that most people like. I think American, Italian, Chinese, Mexican, or vegetarian would be best. If you have other suggestions, please let me know.
