We are going to Portland "on a whim" for the weekend. We have reservations for the Epicurian walking tour Saturday, and reservations for brunch at London Grill on Sunday. We also plan on riding the Arial Tram on Saturday - Anyone have any suggestions what else we should see - or where else we should eat? Thanks in advance for your help!

Plenty to see and do in Portland, but a lot of it depends on the weather. Not the best time of year to be there, but not the worst either.
We will be arriving by train - used priceline to get a room at Riverplace.
Portland is for the outdoorsie type. You name it and Portland has it, or its an hours drive. We have everything from mountains to ocean adventures. Just remember your rain gear! I miss the ocean. Im land-locked here in Switzerland!
As I've already mentioned, there are many excellent buildings to see in Portland. These tower blocks caught my eye, and were photographed (with some difficulty) in the Jefferson/Columbia Streets area.
The Rose Festival Court is comprised of 14 outstanding women who are selected from 14 Portland-area high schools by their respective student bodies. Each court member represents her school throughout the months of May and June at many community events, including meetings with business leaders, visits to hospitals and senior living centers, and meetings with a variety of civic groups.
