distance from bus station to PDX

by virgruth

How many miles is it between the Greyhound Bus station in Portland, Oregon to PDX (Portland Airport)?

Re: distance from bus station to PDX

My Google Earth shows me PDX Airport is around 12 miles downtown Portland.
The airport is in Multnomath County.
Besides Google shows Greyhound Bus Station is near Steel Bridge.
I will paste some text from Wikipedia in order to help your understanding:

PDXAirport is located on the south side of the Columbia River in Multnomah County, six miles by air and twelve miles by highway northeast of downtown Portland.

Union Station serves as a transportation hub for Portland. Portland's Greyhound bus station is the next building to the south. The Portland Transit Mall was extended to the station in the early 1990s, providing local TriMet bus (and, in the future, light rail) service to points in the Portland region. The stops are in Fareless Square, so trips to downtown are free. In addition, it is only a short walk to the Portland Streetcar, which provides service to the Pearl District or south through downtown to Riverplace.

Union Station is a train station near the west shore of the Willamette River in the Old Town Chinatown section of Portland, Oregon, United States.

If you are looking for a fast and cheap way to get from the bus station to the airport consider taking MAX (Portlands' name for the Metro train system). MAX runs to the Portland airport. The bus station is about .35 miles to one of the many MAX train stops. From the bus station you can walk or take a city bus to a MAX stop. Here is the link to our public transportation system website.

Travel Tips for Portland

Portland Building

by yooperprof

Michael Graves helped to define the Post-Modern moment in Architecture with this award-winning and rather eccentric design. It houses offices and bureaus for the city of Portland. (Post-modernism in building combines the vocabulary of classical architecture with the materials and forms of modernism. Post-modernists are reputed to be "ironic".) The Portland Building is certainly quirky, like the city it's in.

Playing at the Rose garden

Here I am being a jackass at the world's largest Rose Test Gardens in Washington Park Portland, OR. Best seen in June & July.
Truly a great place to tkae guests whether it is your mom or buddies.
My fiancee & I come year during the spring and summer just to sit on a bench and relax.
When in full bloom, truly a sight to see.

Militant Cyclists

by yonsei

Critical Mass rides on the last Friday of each month, disrupting rush-hour traffic and mobilizing police. SUV-drivers are frequently tarred and feathered. Anti-war signs are waved and flyers distributed. It's fun to watch.

Remember, it does rain in Portland

by Herkbert

Bringing along a rain jacket is probably a good idea anytime, but definitely during the fall, winter and spring. Tourists stand out as they are the ones walking around with umbrellas, but if you want to stay dry, bring one along.

Books aplenty

by goingsolo

Powell's books is the largest independent bookstore in the world, or so it is claimed. There are actually several locations in Portland, including one at the airport, and a large one downtown. The bookstore embodies the independent nature of the Pacific Northwest, refusing to be sold and remaining a family run institution. I was told that Portland favors local establishments over chains, but spotted many a Starbucks in downtown and the suburban areas did fall victim to Walmart-itis. Still, Powells looked like a cozy place to be on a rainy Northwest day and a place where you could spend hours or even days browsing the world of literature.

The selection of books is beyond impressive. Even if you don't make it to Portland, you can browse online at www.powells.com
