A visit to the Oregon Garden in June, 2008
These are a few photos from June, 2008. The flowers are in bloom, and except for early plants such as the rhododendron the garden is really at its peak. Yet somehow I had not visited the Oregon Garden in late spring (April vs June) until 2008.
There was also quite a bit of local wildlife visible, including snakes, frogs, various birds, and some fish in the ponds.
The "various birds" included a family of ducks in one of the wetlands pools.
Above is a demonstration of an Eco-Roof on one of the sheds at the Oregon Garden. This helps reduce water runoff and provides something other than just a plain dark roof to look at. It also provides some insulation for the building inside.
Construction of the Oregon Garden Resort had started and in fact was nearing completion by the time I visited. Before, where there was just an empty field for future expansion, is now the hope of the future of the Oregon Garden itself.
Interesting artwork at the Oregon Garden include growing animal sculptures of the more conventional kind, several metal sculptures, and some creative art such as these flower pot children.
A more conventional sculpture of a monkey is in one of the photos below.
What would an Oregon Garden be without some roses?
