Taking MY mom back east for fall colors....
is it plentiful in Allentown area? I ask because we are doing two timeshare trades with our MAUI, HAWAII condo, and want to book asap, fo rthis coming SEPT(04) There are a few very nice places there available, ie: The Villas at Fairway, The VIllas at Treetops, an dalso in Shawnee on the Delaware, and Tanglewood reosrt in Hawley, PA. Are you familair with any of these places???
My mother, who will be 78, has been back there a few times, not necessairly in ALLENTOWN, but parts of PA, West VA, VA, Ohio, north and south Carolina. ,I on the other hand, have been back east twice: One to NJ in 1973(we're goin waaaaay back! lol), and to N.C and Georgia in Sept,2000. AND I WANT yo SEE IT ALL!!! can you give me a few pointers on where to go?
We have upstate NY available, Vermont, NH,MASS,VA(Williamsburgh area) and a few others. Would like to do one week inland, one possibly closer to the coast. any and all suggestions welcome

I guess you're interested in the fall colors when the leaves change colors. Early September will probably be too early in the season for Pocono areas, as well as NJ (where I'm from). The colors start changing earlier in New England, but still, early September may be too soon. Late September through Mid October would probably be better, but don't forget, it will also depend on what kind of summer (wet or dry) as to when the peak colors will be out. Don't know if this helped much, but I wish you luck!

The fall colors reach their full glory right in the middle of October around here. Sept. will be too early. The Shawnee area and Tanglewood are often associated with the Pocono Mountains. If you search Pocono pages, you will find information about those two places.

I live about 45 miles from Allentown in nearby New Jersey. The 2 things that I can highly suggest are going to Pennsylvania Dutch country near Lancaster or go into Bucks County (between Allentown and Philadelphia) antiquing. You are not that far from both Philadelphia and New York City for day trips.
I have definitely heard of Shawnee on the Delaware. It is a nice looking resort near the Delaware Water Gap. I have a few pages of places near Allentown here on VT.

I absolutely reccomend Vermont, burlington being a great town to stay in, as well as any other town...there's allot of flaver in Vermont, and alway plenty to do. As for a coast area to visit...coastal maine is INCREDIBLE. Vermont, and coastal Maine are two of the most beautiful places on earth to be in the fall time. Good luck!

I'm a native of Allentown, and we own a time share at Shawnee. The Villas at Treetops and The Villas at Fairway are all in the same resort. Have had our time share at Fairway for over 20 years and never get tired of going there. It is a very relaxed, gentle sort of place, with lots to see and do. We got married there in 2000, so it has sentimental resonances as well. There's a webste for owners, http://www.shawneeowners.com/ but nonowners can also access a lot of the information, including video tours. Just keep clicking on different items until you get what you want. (If you can't find the tour, let me know and I'll take you through the steps.)
We also go to New England every year for the foliage, but it is about an 6 hour drive. However, Virginia is several hours' drive as well. If you haven't ever been to Washington, DC, it's well worth a trip on itself but you could go to VA and stop in DC too.
