Travel Tips for Altoona
Restaurants, Bars, and Altoona Curve
Altoona has many restaurants, just recently they put in an Olive Garden on Plank Rd near the I-99 exit. If you're over 21, you can find fun at places such as Bennigan's. In the summer the Altoona Curve plays just off the Frankstown Rd exit.
Blairco's new Altoona Page
Altoona is in the county of Blair in the state of Pennsylvania. It is centraly located and was founded by the Pennsylvania Railroad and was incorperated in 1849. The city is rich in History although most of the historic places have been torn down, which is sad. About 5 miles north of Altoona is the Horse Shoe Curve which made Train travel to the West possible. The railroad was recently bought by Norfolk and Southern Railroad. We also opened a new Altoona Railroad Museum which shows you life in Altoona during the railroad hey day. It is a wonderful museum and worth the trip just for it.
