More about Carlisle House Bed & Breakfast
A Wonderful Place!!
We just returned from a trip to Carlisle after 30 years of being away, and we stayed at the beautiful Carlisle House Bed and Breakfast. From the moment we walked in we felt like it was home. Mary and Alan were the most gracious hosts and were very helpful in suggesting restaurants and things to do. Our room was spotless and absolutely beautiful, and had the most comfortable bed we had ever slept on! The jacuzzi, in-room refrigerator, television (complete with a DVD library), and breakfast were wonderful, too. We especially enjoyed the homemade quiche and muffins. We look forward to going back to Carlisle sometime so we can stay there again!!
Great Place to stay!
We recently stayed at the Carlisle House for five days and what a wonderful experience. The host/hostess, Mary and Alan made our stay a memorable one. They provide a great deal of personal attention and they are availablelto help make you stay comforatable and easy. You also can't mention the Carlisle House without mentioning the delicious breakfasts served each morning. They were simply wonderful...homemade goodies such as quiches and french toast specials.
It was a great experience and we are planning to stay again next year. If you are in Carlisle or the sourounding area we would highly recommend the Carlisle House.
Warm and personal
We have stayed several times at the Carlisle House B&B., and we have never been disappointed. Mary and Alan, the owners, are friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. A very nice breakfast is served each morning in their sunny dining room, and the inn's location is perfect for strolling around Carlisle's downtown area or visiting the campus of Dickinson College. We plan to stay here as often as possible while visiting our daughter who is a DC student.
In spite of the many favorable reviews on Tripadvisor, we weren't prepared for the wonderful experience we had at Carlisle House. The rooms are even more attractive and comfortable than they appear in the website. Mary and Alan went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we needed, and the quiche was, perhaps, the best we've ever eaten. Alan directed us to Piatto, for our one dinner in town, and we were thrilled with his choice. The food was excellent and the BYO policy was an added bonus. All in all, a terrific place to stay in Central Pennsylvania.
A Perfect B&B
Warm and hospital inn keepers; beautiful, yet, comfortable decor; a delicious breakfast- the perfect place to relax with friends or have a private get-away. This Inn is at the top of our B&B experiences. Tom and Denise Kotay
Best B&B we've visited in a long time!
We stayed in the Rose Room and loved it. It was meticulously maintained and completely charming. The Innkeepers Mary and Alan did a great job keeping us happy. They even helped us arrange our visit to a local brew pub (the purpose of our trip). We'll try to get back and stay with them again, and will certainly recommend their lovely B&B to other travellers! Thanks so much!!
We stayed at the Carlisle House for the first time while visiting Dickinson College, and what a wonderful find it was! For families going through the college search process, staying at the Carlisle House is a must. The innkeepers, Alan and Mary Duxbury, are exceptional hosts. They provided a wealth of information on Dickinson College, local history, and restaurants and businesses in Carlisle. They introduced us to other guests who were also looking at the college, or who had students already attending, which was another great resource.
This is a charming B&B with lots of history, but with all of the modern conveniences, including high speed wireless internet access. Mary and Alan's delicious breakfasts (including expertly brewed tea, thanks to Alan's British heritage) get the day off to a great start. Homemade cookies are a wonderful afternoon treat. A common room with a kitchen provides a great space for family gatherings or a quiet place to read. A library of DVDs is available for viewing on in-room TV/DVD players.
This was our 8th visit to the Carlisle House, now that our son is a student at Dickinson, and it feels like our home away from home. Whether it's for a college visit, a romantic getaway, or a business trip, we highly recommend the Carlisle House, where the innkeepers always remember your name, and go the extra mile to make your stay a pleasant one.
We stayed in the Anna Woods room this time and really loved it. We used this as a jumping off point for the PA Wine Trail. The consistency of the service, hosts, rooms, and breakfast is just amazing. We have stayed here several times now and never been disappointed. It is a wonderful experience every time.
like a home away from home
Since I travel a lot for lecture tours, I'm in hotels too much; the beautiful thing about Carlisle House was that I didn't feel like I was in a hotel at all - more like I was staying at a very generous friend's house who catered to my needs.
Friendly, gracious hosts - great rooms - good breakfast.
Great little find.
We enjoyed our stay at the Carlisle House. Mary & Alan are wonderful hosts and made us feel very comfortable. The purpose of our trip was to attend the "infamous Carlisle Car SWAP meet" which was a treat for my husband and simply an 'outing' for me. Being only a mile away from the B&B made it a perfect location so Bill could do his thing and I could do mine :-). All in all, cosy and enjoyable setting along with great food and warm hospitality. Love to stay there again someday.
