for background see my review on the Best Western in Chambersburg,PA.
To make a long story short, we got stiffed at Best Western and ended up at Days Inn as second choice which turned out to be the "best" choice anyways.
When we drove in the parking lot we were a little leery because one half of it was torn up and part of a building had recently been demolished and hauled away. When we talked to the desk clerk, he informed us that another company that had shared their little strip mall had recently died and was being buried. We asked if demolition was still going on (noise and all) and he assured us that it was finished.
The Days Inn was quite nice for an elderly motel because they had recently done some upgrades and face-lifts to the rooms and hallways. The pool was small but serviceable in the hot muggy weather of late June,2005. The exercise room was nothing great but we were only looking for an over-nighter anyways. The rooms were large with double beds, desk, TV cabinet, corner table and a padded bench (handy to use when putting shoes on). The bathroom was clean; there were the normal amenities of coffee maker, iron, hair dryer and microwave and this room had a small refrigerator too.
My wife thought the free continental breakfast was pretty average; I don't need much before lunchtime so any breakfast that is free is fine with me. They had fruit, fruit juice, toast, cereal, danish and coffee and a waffle maker.
The place was amazingly quiet. I think the torn-up driveway may have scared away potential travelers from staying.... which was just fine with us because we were mighty tired by the end of this long trip we were on.
Unique Quality: Friendly staff; reasonable price ($68 total AAA rate) for good room.
