Check out Newbie
by Ewingjr98
Newbie, or more formally New Bethlehem, has nothing much to do with old Bethlehem or Jesus. What the town of just over 1,000 does have is a Smuckers Peanut Butter factory and an annual Peanut Butter Festival in September. This small town 20 miles from the county seat of Clarion happens to host the Clarion County Fair each year as well.
New Bethlehem was founded in 1853 and lies along the wide Redbank Creek, which forms the southern boundary of Clarion County.
The sound of a distant Clarion
by Ewingjr98
I grew up in Lucinda, a huge city about 10 miles north of Clarion. We spent a lot of time here for shopping, dining, movies, basketball at the University, cruising Main, the annual Autumn Leaf Festival, and more.
Recent adventures led me to discover the 8th PA Reserve Volunteer Infantry Regiment, which was commanded by Maj Silas M. Baily, fell under the 2nd Brigade, 3d Infantry Division, 1st Corps at Antietam. This regiment, which suffered 12 killed and 44 wounded, fought at Antietam.
