Start your Bayfront visit atop the tower.
Elevator takes you 180 feet above Presque Isle Bay where you can see beyond Presque Isle State Park's forested peninsula.
Maybe you'll see a 1,000 foot lake freighter. Or maybe one of the tall ships visiting the Great Lakes. During the summer you can watch sailboat races, or just watch the sun sink into the water.
On a clear day, you can see neighboring Ontario only 45 miles to the north (of course).
Tower is only $2. Can be a bit windy up there, but you can see the entire harbor and much of the city.
Grab a quick snack on the first floor or buy a souvy. Clean restrooms are also on the ground floor.
Erie, on the Lake
"Erie"
This is Pennsylvania's third largest city. Of course, Philadelphia is the big tourist draw, but Erie has a number of interesting places to visit. I happened to stop over for a night enroute from Toronto to Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, the weather was less than pleasant, but it was still an interesting visit.
