Great Place to Stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel, it was clean the lady @ the counter was very pleasent, it is right in the middle of everything, the price was reasonable. My husband was tired and did not want to go out for dinner the night we arrived so we ate in the restaurant downstairs, they gave us a coupon and the waitress gave us the discount per person which was great, the food was wonderful and we were stuffed when we left. There are many choices of places to stay in the area but we will most definitely use this one again.

Great place to stay

Clean rooms. Friendly staff. Wonderful place to eat, drink and relax after a long day. And best of all, RIGHT in the middle of everything.
Will stay here on all future trips to Gettysburg.

Civil War Stay

by KiKitC about Gettysburg Battlefield

I came across an interesting site today...a Gettysburg Bed and Breakfast situated on 30 acres of battlefield. They have re-enacters to add to the experience.

I am looking more into this one, and will probably set a weekend to visit...and then I'll give detailed opinions...but in the mean time, you may want to check it out! Guests say it's haunted...they leave it up to you to figure out...

Gettysburg Battlefield Bus Tours

by MTFPA200

Ride the open air double decker through the Gettysburg Battlefield while you listen to the townspeople and generals telling you about the historic events which took place during July 1st 2nd and 3rd 1863. Another option is to ride in an enclosed coach bus interacting with a Licensed Battlefield Guide taking you through the battlefield. Both tours are 2 hours long and both tours are outstanding!

Holiday Inn...Gettysburg

When Was it built and DID they move the house Jenny Wade was shot in to build it?

Re: Holiday Inn...Gettysburg

by Rixie

I don't know when the Holiday Inn Gettysburg (Battlefield)was built, but it's in the same block as the Jenny Wade House. The hotel is at 516 Baltimore Street, and the house is at 528.

It seems highly unlikely that the city would have moved a historic house and popular tourist attraction to accommodate a Holiday Inn. Also, there has always been a buzz about the cellar of the Jenny Wade House -- where her body was laid out before burial -- being haunted. It's pretty hard to move a cellar with a house. You'd think that if the house had been moved, it would be the basement of the Holiday Inn that was haunted.
