Excellent Place!

I have been going to Gettysburg for many years now. It is a yearly trip. I had a great time staying at the Colton motel. Andrew was an excellent host. He made sure everything was perfect. His friendlyness and willing to help no matter what is amazing. I felt like I was staying with family and not "just another motel". If you are looking for a place that is close to everything, nice atmosphere, and accessability to attractions, this is the place for you. Great deal for the price!

Manager Andrew rocks!

The Colton Motel is a great place to stay for little money. The rooms are clean and everything in the rooms works (e.g. TV, AC), which can't be said for every motel. A special reason for staying there is the extremely nice and cool manager Andrew. He is a hoot! He is always in a good mood and thus makes your stay a very pleasant one. Moreover he gives you great tips regarding cheap places to eat (the Mayflower Restaurant was great, man!) and what to do in the vicinity.
Great Family Spot

As a business executive in banking who often travels, I am used to staying at Marriotts, Hyatts, and Hiltons. Family vacations can be different of course, and in Gettysburg, the upscale choices are non-existent. Based on reviews here, and armed with a sense of adventure, we narrowed our choices and then decided to stay at the Colton Motel in early August with my children.
A superb choice! As a cost-effective destination, I can tell you that this establishment is wonderful! Was Andrew awake to greet us as we pulled in after midnight, as we called ahead to say we would? Yep. Was he friendly and cordial? Absolutely. Was the room clean and comfortable and perfect for a traveling family? Without question. (The key factor, right?) Are the employees some of the most knowledgeable about the town and sites, and veritable Chamber of Commerce representatives? For sure.
You can't get any closer to the main Gettysburg sites than this motel, which is a real PLUS. Now, no, it will never be confused with a Marriott. But RELAX! It was quiet, clean, and a perfect family place. My kids liked it better than the Hyatt Regency we were in a few days earlier and the upscale midtown Manhattan hotel we stayed at a few days later (both at 4x the price, as you can imagine). This has to be THE place to choose in Gettysburg. We loved it, and only wished we could have stayed longer. Simple, clean, affordable, pleasant. Clean bathrooms (no Italian marble; just spotless and large), comfortable beds, and even cable TV. The most wonderful type of place to stay on a family vacation. We were extremely pleased with the choice.
Great place to stay

We've stayed at the Colton before and will continue to do so. The cost of our stay at the Colton was an exceptional value. Generally, August is prime time for inflated rates in the imotel ndustry, but not at the Colton. The rates there are among the best in Gettysburg. The manager is always helpful and ready with a suggestion that makes the vacation even better. The place and the people offer an old-fashioned charm. The location is perfect because the battle field is right out the back door but you have the shops and restaurants along the avenue out front. You can park your car and not get back in again until you check out if you like.
The Colton Saved our Gettysburg Stay!

When we decided to go camping in Gettysburg we had no idea how popular this attraction was to people with RVs. We arrived in town late and soon realized that there were no open campsites left! The manager of the Colton, Andrew, was very kind and helpful. He was able to provide us with a room. Even though it was a smoker's room and we are not it was surpisiingly clean and fresh. We were able to enjoy the cable televison and the pool. We spent the night walking around the town and enjoyed dinner at one of the close resturants. Best of all, we were in biking distance of the battlefield which we went to the next morning. If we had not had found this hotel, our trip would have been ruined.
