Breakast Is Served in the Dobbin House
The hot breakfast that comes with the room for those staying in the Gettystown Inn is served in the historic Dobbin House but in the downstairs area in what used to be the parlor and study. The fine dining is upstairs in what used to be the bedrooms; I'll do a separate restaurant tip for it.
It was a tasty hot breakfast and the service was excellent. I am assuming it was a lot quieter for me than the Rev. Dobbin. He needed a large house for his school and family. His first wife had ten children before her early death and the widower remarried a widow, who already had nine children of her own!

Steinwehr Room
The Steinwehr Room is a cozy second floor room at the top of the stairs toward the back of the Gettystown Inn B&B. It was named after Union COL Adolph Wilhelm August Friedrich Baron von Steinwehr. The Steinwehr Room is furnished with a queen-sized solid oak bed and antique oak furniture, including a small desk. The bathroom is quite large, and has a vanity area along with a small fridge. The AARP rate for the Steinwehr Room in May 2008 was $82 plus tax for one person. There is an air-conditioning unit in the window, but no TV. The downstairs sitting room has a TV.
Unique Quality: The Steinwehr Room bedroom window faces the parking lot of the historic Dobbin House Tavern; however, you can see the Soldiers' National Cemetery Annex from it. It is actually better to be in the back, away from the street noise, although the Sleepy Hollow of Gettysburg Ghost Tour starts in beside the Gettystown Inn and it is noisy for a few minutes in the evening. One warning, however; if you are tall, be sure to duck when you go in the door. It is short!

Historic B&B in a Great Location
The Gettystown Inn B&B is associated with the historic 1776 Dobbin House Tavern. In fact you check in at the Country Curiosity Store in the Dobbin House. It is within walking distance of the Soldiers' National Monument.
Unique Quality: A hearty hot breakfast comes with the room and is served in the adjacent Dobbin House. Breakfast includes fresh baked breads, fresh fruits, cereal, juice, and eggs or another hot entree.
