New Visitors Center by jd04
The visitor center was incredible. The staff there and in the book shop were very knowlegable about diffrent areas and places off the beaten track. The reason for this post was while we were in Gettysburg for the week alot of people that stopped at the old visitor center were puzzled why the visitors center was closed permanently. They had no idea of the new location. So we wanted to give someone a heads up if they were checking this sight. There are many auto tours available for purchase at the visitors center. The one we got was the Gettysburg field guide it is one of the travelbrains auto tour with 2 CD's it cost about $19.95 and was recommended by the staff as the most popular of all the auto tours. You can also have a personal guide to travel in your car with you which is about $55 for 2 hours for a group of up to 14 people. Best advice is to get to the visitor center by 8 AM to reserve your guide for the day. Or of course you can due the shuttle buses that are on Baltimore St. in Gettysburg.
