The FARM show!! :-)
by PA2AKgirl
Now, I have never personally owned any livestock and no one from my family here in PA has either. But we still got off of school when the farm show rolled around! The complex is huge and while the farm show is the biggest event, there are always things going on here...things I never knew about until recently. For example, Pennsylvania has its own "PA High School Rodeo Association" (they never offered that at my high school) and a show...there's also bull riding mania and soon...the long awaited cow parade. LOTS of horse shows, auctions and sales take place here, too.
Yep, this is typical Pennsylvania...
*The complex is located on Cameron Street--from Center City, take Forester down to the end and take a left and take your immediate right onto Herr St. At the stoplight (there's a sunoco gas station on the corner), take another left onto Cameron. If you pass some PROjects, a Popeyes Chicken and a Burger King you're on the right path! It's a little bit up on the left hand side. (I know this area so well b/c it's how I get to rt. 322 and I know better than to make a wrong turn here...did that once and won't do it again)
Pride of the Susquehanna
by Tom_Fields
This small excursion boat operates all summer, as well as special occasions during the rest of the year. It's been working on the Susquehanna River for about 20 years. One-hour narrated river tours are given daily during the summer, except Mondays. There are also special tours, such as mock pirate tours, dinner cruises, the Italian Festival Cruise, and many others.
Some tickets can be reserved online (such as the special cruises). Other tickets are sold at the small ticket kiosk at Riverside Village.

"Feels Like Home"
I loved PA. Worked in Harrisburg and lived along the Susquehanna River in a small town a little bit North of the City. Then moved further into the mountains and settled in a 100 year old house in a belly button of the mountains. In the winter we had to go down the road in order to get up over the top to get to town when the roads got cleared. I remember vividly driving my husband to work one morning and gliding under an ice-covered, tree canopy. There was a huge Raven that flew along under the canopy in front of me. Great memories of this place.
