Harrisburg Bridges
by davecallahan
Harrisburg is uniquelly resplendent with bridges. And each one is a bit different.
Here are some that we found. You may want to prowl the Susquehanna area to find a few more.
The Rockville Bridge (railroad) was built three times over the last 200 years and each construction was different (wooden, then steel on stone, then all stone). It is presently the world's longest stone bridge spanning a river. (2005).
Walnut Street Bridge (foot traffic) was destroyed in 1996 flood. all metal bridge with wood planking. It's lacy structure was rebuilt and is nicely lighted at night to give a great pic.
Mulberry Street Bridge, with its tall "legs" and graceful arches. Concrete structure originally built in 1910 and refurbished in 1957.
John Harris Bridge (I-83) (called South Bridge)
George Wade Bridge (I-81)

The State Museum of Pennsylvania
by PA2AKgirl
Another surprisingly very nice museum in Harrisburg. The state museum has a huge collection, given the size of the city and the fact larger, more well known museums are just a couple hours away. The way the website decribes it and I think it's the best way to do so, is that "it's the story of Pennsylvania's history from earth's beginning to the present." It's really that. It doesn't touch on just one theme, though--there's archeology, anthropology, astronomy (including a HUGE planetarium) technology, etc. So, while the focus is on Pennsylvania, it's not a dry presentation of the history, like it very well could be.
It's free to get in, too...open Tues-Sat.
My Harrisburg Trip
by CandyBear
"A few laughs and a lot of naps"
We started out on a big yellow bus at 5:50am. Almost everyone arived a bit early so we all sat on the bus and waited for a few friends to finely arive. After driving out of the school parking lot most of the 80students on the bus took naps for 1hr and 30mins. Then everyone started singing eminems "superman" Then after that we sang "without me" after that when we arived in Harrisburg we all looked around and then seperated into groups of 4. I walked around with my 3friends, Clyde, Adam and Kammy. We joked around and then at the mall we all looked at mobile phones and then started calling people just for fun.
