Good For Solo
On the edge of the town
You could tell it was predominantly for business travelers. Rooms were clean. No restaurant. There is a small exercise room.
There is a liquor store, a pub, and a small grocery store, all a footwalk away, in a small shopping center right next door.
This hotel is actually right on the outer edge of the city proper, so there wasn't a lot of city traffic to tie you up. That was nice.
My favorite part of the Holiday Expresses, is the breakfasts you get in the morning as part of your room fee. They offer quite a bit. Bagels, english muffins, cereals, fruits, french toast, juices, coffee, tea, milk, and probably some things I' m forgetting about...
The breakfast area is well stocked and attended to constantly by the staff. Nice tables or couches to eat at, large screen TV to catch the morning news. Or you could pile it all on a tray and eat alone back in your room. Newspapers are delivered to your door each morning.
Unique Quality: Careful turning in! The traffic light right IN FRONT of the hotel actually leads into a little shopping center. You want to turn at the light that looks like you are going to be going right into the Medical Center! (right next door to the hotel)
If you pull into the shopping center, you'll have to go back out (like us) because there is no thruway.
Directions: Rt. 56 into Johnstown turns into Scalp Ave.
