Great Vacation - even purchased timeshare while there

We had a great time while staying at Split Rock. Resort offers a lot of activities and there is also great sights outside of the resort. We spent a day at the Crossings Shopping outlet, a day hiking the state parks, and a day in the resort. The food was really good at A Touch of Vanilla. We had so much fun that we purchased a timeshare and plan on going back many more times. The resort is in the process of adding a waterpark. The movie theatre and ice cream parlor added a nice touch to the vacation. The lake is beautiful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Willowbrook-beautiful, Westwood-nice, Galleria-Tired

We stayed in Westwood Villas in April 2004 and in Willowbrook President's Weekend 2005. The resort is a great family place. Lots to do and reasonable. Food is not so great but the kitchens are perfect for family meals like ham, roasts and pasta. The resort amenites are tired. They are used heavily and could stand some updating. But don't let that spoil your fun. Get out and about.
Willowbrook is very new, very spacious and the photos do not do it justice. We had 11 people staying at the resort and comfortably entertained all for dinner in a 1 Bedroom unit in Willowbrook.
Westwood is very spacious also, clean but speaks from the 70's. We would go there again. It is a townhouse unit with bedrooms downstairs and common areas upstairs. A little noisy if people are awake and moving around upstairs.
I would go back any season. It is convenient to ski resorts, The lake is good for ice fishing or any season. The area is quiet and beautiful.
Really great vacation!

What a wonderful resort and so many activities planned. You could have a great vacation and not even go out the door since the bulk of the activities are in the building where we stayed. My husband said the fitness center was the best he had ever used. Hard to believe there were tennis courts and basketball courts inside along with a bowling alley, movie theater (free movies in the afternoon, reasonable prices in the evening). My parents really enjoyed it too and my 82 year old father won a horseshoe tournament. I must admit I was a little worried since I had read a few negative reviews but I can't think of one bad thing to say. We ate at the lodge and the food and service was great. Nice that checkout was 11, didn't have to rush. Oh yes, we saw two groups of deer on site, one a group of 9 and one group of 5 right by our car. I would recommend this resort to everyone.
Horrible Place

I went here over 10 years ago with my then 14 year old daughter. The rooms smelled and were dark and dirty. Food was awful.
I thought 10 years later they would have updated at least the bedspreads! But there they were...they same old dirty stained and smelly bedclothes that were outdated ten years ago! The decor is still the same which was outdated then! Someone please tell these people you cannot charge those prices for bad service, bad food and a disgusting place to sleep!
Avoid this place at all costs. ANY place is better than this!
Nice place to visit

My family and I went to Split Rock in the last week of June. We stayed at Willowbrook - Split Rock's newest accomodations. I saw all of the other accomodations that were offered and they are horrible! They are dated, dirty, and just plain uncomfortable. But Willowbrook is absolutely fabulous! It's new, nicely decorated, extremely clean and very modern.
The Galleria, where the indoor activities are located, is definitely showing its age. The weight/cardio work out room is nasty and old, to the point of being dangerous. The movie theater is equally old, crampy seats and does not have a pleasant smell. On the bright side, we loved the outdoor pools, the golf course, the lake and the general feel of the resort overall. They also have their own bowling alleys, which was a lot of fun. They even have gutter protectors as an option so the kids don't get discouraged. Surprsingly, with only eight lanes and such a large resort, you would expect to have to have tio wait in line for a lane, especially at night. But we always got a lane right away.
Essentially, if you're anything like me, your personal accomodations will make or break your stay. If you stay anywhere other than at Willowbrook, you will not have a pleasant time.
